    I just followed the advice - put the second SL and the other wires from the cable into a seperate connector block. As a result the outside security light no longer has power. Do security lights have a switched live? I thought they are just live, neutral, earth?

    I tested all the wires using a digital tester and only one was detected as switched live. I tried every light switch in my house to make sure and I got nothing except the one.

    Thanks for all the advice. Well today I dug out my meter and checked the wires, it turned out one of them wasn't a switched live at all but a neutral.     switching rim lock for latch

    I'm looking to fit an internal door in my house, the door i've seen currently has a rim lock fitted. Is it easy enough for a joiner to add a latch to the door after the rim lock has been removed? The door hasn't been chilsed at all. Thanks for any advice
