    How much for a conservatory

Only 9m2 and up to 8k doing it on your own? Have you used high end stuff or something? I dont doubt the prices for the top only, its a 'put a high price in cos we cant be arsed and if we get it all well and good' type quote methinks :D

Roof Verge Pointing and Mortar Mix

Lime is used as an 'admix' to improve the mortar, its not a must have, Its about choice, makes the mortar 'creamy' or use when you get ordinary portland cement and not one with additives already in it, Mastercrete to name one, with stuff already in it that is.. Dye is used, sometimes, on roof...

    Locking a Timber Back Door

I have fitted a multi point lock to a wooden front door before, (only the once, wish I never said it tbh) had to cut a groove with a router in the door and went for one without roller cams because you cant hide the keeps. Wether it was any better than putting a piece of metal behind the keep...

Quote for triple glazed windows - seems to good to be true

Thats a good point diywell, most profiles are only 4 chamber from front of frame to back but some are 5 and/or use a polymer, iirc, reinforcing to achieve a better overall U value. http://www.sheerframe.co.uk/product-range/thermlock/ But then I found this.. :lol...

    vertical dpc

 Thats me and ^woody^ agreeing on it! (apart from the waterseal) we used to argue about the colour of the sky :P So there you are, dont fret to much unless the back of your house is subject to the full force of the weather.

    vertical dpc

I wouldnt worry about a vertical damp, if your going to get damp it will be from above unless theres a lot of driving rain hitting your cavity wall, please dont go down the route of covering the brickwork with a 'weather seal' type solution, it doesnt work, the rain gets in thru cracks and bad...

To be honest if your looking a doing a proper job, then you would need to put in cavity trays too.. I'd say if your not that exposed, no driving rain then dont worry to much about it

    Garage conversion building regulations

If you were to put the insulation between the joist/rafters (cold roof) then you would need to put a thiner insulation board over the timbers before plasterboarding and vent the roof cavity.. the last one we did like that a few years ago had to have continuous venting along the soffit, holes in...

    How much for a conservatory

Nice one Ronny! What size is it? Same as Noseall, my dad was a bricky too so 'had' to help him, like it or not  straight into an apprenticship after school and he went out and got my first trowel, London pattern, broad heel at 12" long! Was talking to an old bricky, 70 years young...

    Housing Benefit Cap

Its gonna be capped, at £450 a month! Some say its ethnic cleansing of the poor, to rid London of them.. who knows.. some say its to stop greedy millionaire landlords from raking it in.. I see it as a way of getting a housing stock in London for the next wave of immigrants.
