Would you buy a Gledhill mains pressure cylinder...?

Really good information - many thanks. We are getting a plumber in to quote tomorrow and he will do a flow rate test - the result of which will give us a good indication on the way to go. I'll post up after that.

Would you buy a Gledhill mains pressure cylinder...?

http://www.heatandplumb.com/acatalog/Gledhill_StainlessLite_Indirect_Cylinder_250L.html We are looking for a better pressure in the house esp upstairs where we have 2 showers and a bath. This is £610 versus £1033 for the Sadia Heatrae Megaflo. DO you get what you pay for?

Replacing a 10 yr old HW/CH 'peg' control with a modern one?

No, grey box, 5 to 6" across, peg dial to left (with digital clock in centre giving the time now), right hand side has the 2 sliders, one for HW, one for CH: you know, On/On Once/On Twice/Off, plus two Adv(ance) buttons. Each slider has a red light next to it indicating when it's in 'on' mode.

Replacing a 10 yr old HW/CH 'peg' control with a modern one?

Why? Hopefully to save money and/or the planet :D ! What I mean is I work part time thus am out of the house from 8.30 to 6pm 2 days a week, 8.30 to 1pm one day a week and here sitting doing work on the computer the other days, thus I have different heating needs from one day to the next. I...

Replacing a 10 yr old HW/CH 'peg' control with a modern one?

We have a timer/control box (sorry, not at all technical!) in the utility where we set the on/off for the above. It's one of those peg driven ones where you move coloured pegs around the dial. How difficult and expensive (and POSSIBLE!) is it to get a new digital one installed? One where I...

Power shower v. Megaflo mains pressure cylinder shower

We have rubbish water pressure upstairs in our house (gravity fed) where there are 2 showers. The mains pressure is fine. The solutions are: Electric showers: Will cost £200 each plus the wiring from the fuse box AND we can't risk running both simultaneously are we'll blow the main house...

    Water softeners...Guidance needed

crokett, thanks. Thing is I can get the kitchen tap water straight off the mains (I think!) before the softener, with a bit of extra plumbing so I may not be drinking the stuff at all. It's more what the costs would be and the hassle value of a water softener that will serve the whole...

    Water softeners...Guidance needed

I look in awe inside your kettle! What brand do you have? And an important Q: IS your softener a box thing under your sink? For the whole house? Which you stick a salt block in once a month? We have just been given an on-line 'tick the boxes' quote of £1300 to install a Twin Tec...

    Water softeners...Guidance needed

Thanks- anyone else out there with any more water softener experience? Work on the assumption that I know nothing so anything you can tell me will be of interest!

    Water softeners...Guidance needed

We are seriously considering installing one to aid a child's eczema and to keep new bathroom fittings non limescaled! 1) Can you drink softened water or do you normally have a mains water fed tap in the kitchen and/or bathroom? 2) How much do they cost? The costs I've heard have varied...

    Advice needed: Megaflow boiler?

Complete newbie and numpty (AND female!) :D We have a 4 bedroom 10 year old 'estate' house with 10 year old plumbing. We want to upgrade the 2x upstairs showers due to taste issues :? and barely adequate water pressure. We were going to put 2 x 10kw electric showers in but we've been...
