    Black alkathene fittings?

You are right about the class C/D etc and needing different inserts. The pipe wall thicknesses were different.

How to avoid copper pipe crinkling during bending

A lot of it is because of the crap copper used nowadays. You could almost bend the softer copper of years ago without a spring/bender.

    Copper Pipe & Mortar

I'm with blagard on this. It's thermal expansion & movement that causes a problem and not cement/concrete except for when cinders were used in the mix in days gone. I would however always wrap any copper in denso before bedding pipes in screed etc.

    Tap connector issue

What i meant was that you can use this fitting as the backnut and then have a decent amount of thread for the tap connector.

    Tap connector issue

You are using this fitting as a COMBINED backnut and tap connector thus giving you a bit more thread

    Why the leak?

But the shop boy forgot the one thing that someone on the tools would know and do ?.The valve body must be tapped onto the extension as they never go all the way on by just pushing and you will end up with another leak.Leave the nut & olive loosely screwed onto the valve & tap the whole lot...

    Tap connector issue

It's basically the same as what i showed you except screwfix don't sell it.You would be best to drop some fibre washers into the fitting so as when it screws up tight you have no gap and the end of the tap is tight against a washer if not ptf around the tap thread.
