It's not good practice at all, but from my understanding this happend a lot a few years ago. By today's standard and probably even by standards then this was deemed unacceptable. I have now finished the re-wire of my house and having taken out the old wiring system really set my pulse...

    Back box question URGENT

Mmmm I've had a good look on the tlc website and a lot of the 3 gang dimmers are showing a double back box as a related item and not a single backbox. My plan is to have 3 x 2 way switching in my living room. The one switch near the door entrance will be a normal 3 gang switch 2 way and the...

    Back box question URGENT

I must add that the lighting cable is 1.5mm2 so 3 x 1.5mm2 and 3x 1.5mm2 of 3 core The 3 gang light will be dimmers so a 3 gang dimmer and when i went onto to TLC they put a 2 gang as a related item and not a 1 gang back box. I'm just wanting to clarify a point.

    Back box question URGENT

Hi all, If i am having a 3 gang lighting switch will operate 2 way. How big is the back box to be a single or a double. The bloke in the lighting shop said that 1 gang would be adequate. With 6 cables going into a 1 gang with the grommits on looks impossible. Would you go for a double...

Yes i had an RCD extension cable pluged into a non recd double socket. I got my nephew to cut the edges for me. We didn't notice that the cable to the hedge trimmer had been previously cut. He acidently touched it with his hand and he got a shock. He described it as a little tingle. It was 2...
