    Clean up white spirit

I'll set up a grill and a couple of stakes while we're at it.

    Hide the pipes

Yes, it currently has quarry floor, I'm fully prepared to dig it all up and replace it with a slate/marble one on screed. I'm prepared to modify anything in the kitchen except the boiler, not sure what to do about that, will probably just cut work surface away from it then find a the rules or a...

    White Spirit and washing machine

I always wash my white spirit soaked sponges in the machine with the bortex and oxygen bleach. My machine never acquires a white spirit smell... If yours has like they suggest just do an empty boil wash in it, or better yet do an empty boil wash with some nice perfumed washing tablets. I'd...

    Clean up white spirit

Now white spirit is quite safe considering what a potent solvent it is. However it smells bloody awful and I want rid of it (it's all over my floor). Any better tips than a good old wash with washing up liquid and a mop?

    Hide the pipes

After destroying any chances of getting useful help with the comedy picture, what are the normal ways to hide the pipes in kitchens? I can think of only these: Heavy bonding layer with plastic pipes in, exiting exactly where they need to. False drywall with the same exit rules as above Run...

Better "view my own posts" option

That's what I'm doing right now, but I don't need to see those posts with no more activity in most of the time, there should be the option to just not display them.

    Respirator gear

Where can I find a list of when you need which respirators? For example I just sprayed a small section of quarry tiles with Xylene and am high as a f****** kite so I'm guessing I need some closed system. A list of the different systems, what you need them for, in fact any lists like this that...

Better "view my own posts" option

That link just shows all my posts, even if nobody added to them. That's the very link I bookmarked.

    Nails in Joists

Aye I noticed this is what was normally done on them, usually by some legend with a circular saw but wanted to check they only were doing it because they didn't have some of the tools we do now.

Bodger tries to clean Quarry Tiles before levelling compound

I found the even more ultimate. Turns out I had some Xylene in an aerosol can lying around. Now this stuff is NASTY. Don't play with it use the safety gear but it erased everything in sight like it never existed. Toluene which is more readily available in the UK here probably would too.

    Nails in Joists

I've got one of those plunge cutters that will go through the nails if I wanted it to, but is it a good idea? If I need to pull up a board which needs cutting to be pulled, where is it best to cut? I could cut directly across the nails, figuring they're most likely to be closest to joist centre...

    Hide the pipes

When I go in homebase none of their kitchens have pipes showing everywhere. Well mine does and they have to go. Where are the pipes generally run with these units? The pipes underneath my worktops stick out so far the washing machine can't be pushed flush back against the wall and that...

    Removing old sealant compounds

Get the acetone from fibreglass or eBay like poster above says then pour into the little pharmacy bottles for easy carrying around.

    Removing old sealant compounds

It was a series of connected parts, the sealant was on a part I didn't want to remove. However I am a tight a**e :D Like me then, cept if you got a bit of acetone with cotton buds that works nicely indeed. Rubbing alcohol might even, but acetones easy enuf to get, bit pricey if you buy it...

    Removing old sealant compounds

When you need to remake a joint and have to remove the old sealants (combinations of teflon tape, jet blue, fernox, etc) what do you do? The way I have been doing it was to use a cotton bud soaked in acetone to wipe around with, which worked well until I ran out of acetone. I then used wire...

    Large soft spinning wire wall

I tried all these (hooked up to an orbital sander) after reading this post. The wire wall quickly comes to pieces and isn't that handy. The scotchbrite pad is very handy (not as effective as spirit soaked brillos, yet lots quicker and you can finish up with them). However, they clogs up VERY...

    Slaying of the lead pipes

My leaky tap is "mains" and I can't DIY it? Can you limit mains a bit more please as I don't quite get it, or just point me to relevant building regs :D
