Advice needed on wording of party wall agreement.

Go for an informal agreement. Just nice simple english - common sense usually prevails, do a first cut, make sure next door is happy, then print and sign. I usally view the fact I would rather do a couple of hundred quids worth of work for next door than give the money to a solicitor to smooth...

    Fire door regs

You can buy firedoors from howdens/magnet/jewsons... They come in two sizes 8ft x 3ft and 8ft x 4ft. They are pretty usefull as long as you don't mind them looking pretty plane. I've just finished a modern house and used them - lovely weight and feel. I've painted them with satinwood...

    drain testing

Bung it, do a test and when you are happy, then go down the route of having a go a BC. That way if it all goes tits up then tell them, come down and see the test. BC should not have let you continue to the next stages of the build without completing the previous. As it had not EVER been...

    Pressure Testing Newly installed system

Well, after a little checking (tile removal) I did have a 50mm bath trap on. The air loss turned out to be from 38mm to 28mm over 3 mins. The place had no wet patches, had been done (plastered and painted) for 3 months. The place does now have access panels on ALL 90 deg bends for...

Testing newly installed SVP in completed property

Hi, I'm a little concerned in regards to a final sign off from BC, I would appreciate your thoughts. I've done a pressure test on my SVP starting at 38mm on a U-Guage. Over the course of 5 minutes it drops to 15mm, dropping at a steady pace - unfortunately. I know in an ideal world we...

    Nail Gun

I've got the paslode first fix (IM350). It's fine. The only times I've had issues are :- 1. When I've not cleaned it (easy to do) 2. When it's been below 5 degs. Other than that your a muppet if your a jobbing chippy doing carcass work/roof work and you don't have one. I've the Dewalt...

    Pressure Testing Newly installed system

Ah, yes, what is commonly know (sorry it's course) as a fa**y trap ! I've used one to resolve a problem due to space restrictions available to the trap. All the other traps are 75mm bottle. Bottle as they are cheaper.

    Boiler choice- Worcester or Ferroli

Oh dear !! Didn't realise Vaillant didn't do good support. From the few occasions I used them, they were ok. I am sure everyone has had a problem with a product supplier. And unfortunately, on forums, you tend to only hear the complains. The good things... well, that's taken (rightfully so)...

    Boiler choice- Worcester or Ferroli

I have to say, from now on I will only install vaillant. I always used to be a skin flint, but my girlfriend taught me to pay a little more and get something that works... and if it doesn't, then at least has a good support team behind it.

    Pressure Testing Newly installed system

Muggles, Don't get me wrong. I would not leave the trap in place and use excuses of the floor for no doing the right thing. This my own house not a job for a client (as I am not a jobbing plumber but have done my NVQ's some time ago). I have no problems doing the right thing and have no...

    Pressure Testing Newly installed system

Mmm... Just been reading R.D Treloar 2nd Edition. Yep, looks like my bottle traps are fine. Shower traps are fine - under adverse pressure - the water just pushes up but no bubbles. So, it's the bath that might continue to be the issue. I presume the shallow traps are in place for refurbs...

    Pressure Testing Newly installed system

BC are happy with the use of Dergo - which incidentally is off 3" at the top of the stack - due to falls and running between joists. BC are happy with the use of the 3" too. The bath is a shallow trap and not a P-Trap. This is due to the distance between the bottom of the bath and the floor...

Vaillant Ecotec plus 28. Standing water found under boiler

The condensation pipe is the one that eventually goes outside, or sometimes into the SVP (Soil Pipe, brown 4" round). When it goes outside, it is supposed to go from the 19mm pipe to and 1"1/4 or even greater. If it's gone outside, it could get blocked (unlikely) or the water that runs out...

    ferroli boiler31c

Try hitting the reset button for one second. You might need to do this three times. I've just gone through a world of hurt with one of these babies.

    Pressure Testing Newly installed system

Hi, I've got a terrace that has been refurbished. As part of the refurbishment new plumbing through out. It's not vented, but has a dergo at the top of the SVP. I've used a pressure test kit and inflatable plugs and all the underground stuff is fine - sticks at 100, ok, drops to 90...

Vaillant Ecotec plus 28. Standing water found under boiler

It could be that your condensation trap is either blocked or frozen. I did have one that was leaking as the 2" (yes 2") condensation overflow was frozen. A couple of secs with a blow torch got it flowing again and then a towel over it to stop it freezing. Equally, just check to see if you've...

    Boiler choice- Worcester or Ferroli

Well, after spending 6 weeks trying to get Ferroli to resolve the problems with an Optimax 31c HE under it's "warrantee", id say just stick an additional 6 pints of blood into your system as it's a much quicker way of raising your blood pressure rather than dealing with Ferroli. To be honest...

    Ferroli combi

No... Don't touch. Spend a little more and get something you've heard of. Next time I see the sales guy in Travis Perkins I might nut him - verbally of course !

    Ferroli boilers - any good

If they work... no problem. When they start to have faults (OptiMax 31 HE) and you have to deal with their sub-contracted field engineer's - well, you might as well stick toast into them as that is about as likely your going to get the boiler going again. I am truly amazed how I have been...

    new ferroli optimax

I installed an OptiMax 31HE worked fine for a year then went into fits. It has been a horrendous ordeal dealing with Ferroli. I would not touch them with a barge pole. Save yourself the hassle - spend a couple hundred more and get a Vaillant.
