    water pressure, tall house

Ok, they look affordable. Meantime, why is it the flow through the Combi is so much lower? I live in a very hard water area, might there be something going on with scale?

Thank you. Is there any way I can measure the pressure? I have a hose pipe!

    water pressure, tall house

Can anyone help me work out how to fix my water pressure? Property is three stories, Combi boiler on lowest floor in the kitchen. The shower at the top of the house has always been a bit flakey due to lower pressure, and this has got a bit worse recently, some days failing to trigger the boiler...

    Resealing stainless steel waste

Understood, thanks. Basin done, now the ugly job of disassembling the low profile bath trap which has been put together with about six bloody joints!

    Resealing stainless steel waste

Thanks all, yes it's chrome traps. Several screw tight junctions that all have black washers to seal, but to get a good seal in the past I have to use grips. I'll try silicone grease.

    Resealing stainless steel waste

I've got a couple of basins with stainless steel wastes. They regularly need hair and gunk cleared out, but it's always hard to get a good seal on the various joints. Is there some kind of sealant I should be using, or should I buy a load of washers? Thanks!

Around door seal, source for longer than retail?

Hi, I want to use an around door draught seal, but my door is bigger than the retail packages. Typically they give you 5m, but my total perimeter is more like 6m, the door being 2.3m high and 1.1m wide. Is there a source for longer pieces of this stuff...

Warped front door - adjust frame with shims?

Bolt won't work, door too tall for wife! Nail on looks interesting, is it slightly flexible, to bend into the warp? Gap at top is about 15mm.

Warped front door - adjust frame with shims?

About 10mm, but the warping means big gap at the top, fading to none at the bottom - I need a fading profile. I've bought some very thin adhesive foam, I'll try layering it.

Warped front door - adjust frame with shims?

I did mean build up the door stop, sorry, didn't know the correct term. What do you think of my ideas for doing it? Would it be better just to buy several thicknesses of foam weatherseal?

Warped front door - adjust frame with shims?

Very old (100+y) front door is warped - top corner on lock side is about 12mm away from frame, letting in draught and noise. I don't want to replace the door, so I'm thinking of building up the frame enough to use weatherstrip. What would be a long lasting way to do this? I thought about...

Ordering and installing an aluminium back door

Planning to replace an rotting wooded back door with an all glass aluminium one. Tempted to do it myself - have successfully done the same with a wood->uPVC in the past. Firstly - does anyone know of reputable suppliers? Secondly, I want to work out a couple of details that I'm not quite sure...

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

That's encouraging! I'll try it at a higher boiler temp, as that was when it went to 3bar. And I'll do the PRV experiment

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

Update... Today the boiler pressure cold had dripped from 1.5bar to avoid 1.2. I drained some water until the boiler pressure gauge said zero. Then I attacheda car foot pump with gauge to the EV. Pressure was zero. I pumped it up to 0.75bar. When I then looked at the boiler gauge it read...

Yes, the EV is behind the burner, easily accessible from the top.

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

Oops, was typing, missed your post. Yes, the ex-Vaillant guy who saw it last year said as much about the boiler, he was quite passionate about it and the most fair and professional person I've ever had found in any trade. You can find him of you search for Vaillant service London. Not much room...

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

Me again... I did some further observation because I would rather not call an engineer unless it's certain. I ran the heating twice more, with the boiler thermostat at its usual position, 4. In both cases the pressure went up to 2bar, from its baseline cold pressure of 1.5. I also located the...

Frequently having to top up water pressure in Vaillant combi.

Thanks both. It hasn't vented so far as I can see, but of course I've never looked at that pipe before. I'll call an engineer (there's a great one in London who's been to it before). How much is an expansion vessel? Is it a lot of work to fit? But more importantly, is the system safe? If I keep...
