    Cleaning My Best Brush

If you intend using them with oil-based again then just leave them standing in water.. If you need them cleaned then just pour some white spirit into a container and clean them in that, youll probably need to pour away & repeat a few times until the spirit is almost clear then wash them in...

    Stirring non drip paint

On (the very few) times Ive had to use it Ive always given it a good stir, I cant see how it can do any good to leave it un-stirred - way too stodgy!

    Warmaline polystyrene insulating paper

Its crappy stuff when applied to whole walls , youll always get cracks at the joints even when lining-paper is hung over it !

    Emulsion paint

Depends on weather/temperature/humidity... Friday I got 3 coats on between 9am & midday..It was a warm so each dried within an hour.. Trade emulsion dries quicker than the stuff from DIY stores ..

Wallpapering over exsisting wallpaper or lining paper?

You could try but maybe give the walls a coat of emulsion first to seal. That'd also show here its going to bubble/lift! Lining paper is hung horizontally prior to wallpapering , youll probably see the vertical lines through your new paper !

My paint is peeling/bubbling and is fluffy!

That'll do it, or even a thinned coat of oil-based undercoat will seal it

Query about using lining paper in corners

I'd line and fill , or fill then line. Go for 1700 grade. Just cut straight into corners with no overlap, fill any gaps there when dry with easifill or caulk. Donty hang the lining paper vertically if you intend to wallpaper over it !

    varnishing/staining hand rail

If oil/solvent-based (most likely)just rub it down and give it a couple (or 3) coats of tinted satin varnish (polyuerathane) or Dulux protective woodsheen. If theres patches of almost bare wood then you could give them a touch of woodstain/dye to even the colour out If its water-based it will...

Peeling paint, mould & way forward

Bleach mixed in hot water will kill it off but it will probably grow back in any damp areas eventually, thats the problem with bathrooms with poor air circulation ior a cold exterior wall . Try painting with asolvent-based eggshell rather than emulsion

Help! I want to remove a stain varnish and get back to wood

It'd take a LOt of sanding to get back to bare wood & by then it will be too thin  If it was a water-based stain/varnish it may not have penetrated so deep ...Still a long job though

Recs for gloss (already undercoated surface)

Nooo , not Wickes  Not Homebase or B&Q either... Go to a trade store and buy Crown , Dulux, Johnstones . Leyland etc.. Pref in that order  Whatever you do dont skimp on the gloss

    blistering paint

Was the paste residue thoroughly removed prior to painting? In any case youll have to scrape off the loose/blistered paint and skimm those areas with filler or if extensive then line the walls before emulsioning
