    Big tank is to feed upstairs bathroom and any other taps in house except Kitchen cold, Kitchen will always be mains fed cold, it also feeds your hot water tank in airing cupboard, remove sludge yes although normal, when removing sludge protect holes in bottom of tank as you don't want any to go...

    Yep it's knackered, this is a very common problem with these valves, most plumbers hold their breath when they have to turn them off

    I do agree, however Denso tape is Evil :twisted: . If you can use plastic properly then do, It'll be fine just use copper for the tails to Rad, I don't usually recommend plastic but in some situations it works
