    Worktop issue

A hot iron will soon flatten even the tightest of rolled up edging. A full curve can be done on laminate .. it takes a little patience and IMHO does not look great even when well done .. as stated earlier .. the solid surface tops are best for this .. or tree wood. Phill

Good point roofline. I see adl is assuming again . assuming that he is the only one that can read MI's and cut a big hole for a stop tap. This is where a section for advice would be good . An experienced fitter would tell a poster that there are minimum requirements when boxing in...

    Kitchens

Hi Cumbria That is what I suggested. Kitchen fitters who wish to help DIYers then have a central place to answer posters.. and posters can post in one area , instead of going through three or four sections to get all the answers.. the only exception I would say is electrics as the regs are...

    Kitchens

we could argue the toss of this forever. There are bad and good in all trades. Like plumbers that put services behind integrated appliances, same with sparkies plug sockets behind a fixed appliance. A good fitter will tell a designer he is in contravention of any regs regarding flue...

Routing top of kitchen unit for undermount sink?

Hi Outmyway Don't go with the fitters putting shims under the granite , the sink needs to be rebated into the unit as per your original question.. big al is right , unless you are experienced in routing you will find it difficult to control. I would suggest that you speak to the supplier of...

I give up .. I try and suggest that there be a central forum in here for people to ask questions relating to one area and everyone seems to think that kitchen fitting is a *******ised trade unworthy of recognition from others. And as for butchering chipboard and mdf same could be said for...

    anyone got work from "myhammer"?

My Hammer Rubbish... spend your money elsewhere.. their search facility is rubbish ... then all you get is clients who want 10 grands worth of work done for 4 grand ... and then someone quotes that .

    Is this an expensive quote??

This depends on a few factors. where you live. have you had any other quotes? and whether this person has been recommended to you by someone you know. In my opinion there is a lot of work involved and they seem to be supplying all relevant materials to complete job, so I would say it is a fair...

90 degree corner in oval conduit

Safe zone of 150 is a pain in the kitchen , as sparkies quite rightly use this to run cables. Then along comes kitchen fitter with l-shaped corner wall and the hanging brackets are almost always with 30 to 80 mm from the corner .. You can guess what happens next when the uninitiated starts work...

removal of permanent sharpie marker from vinyl floor

Nail varnish remover removes sharpie inks off most things .. however try a place that will not be seen before having a go at the main floor , it may just melt the vinyl.

    Granite worktop and underslung sink

They forgot to drill a taphole.. 8) Another way is to have a solid top on the unit ,then do a cutout for the sink making sure that the sink is flush with the top of the carcase . silicone it in place to seal it .. then place the granite on top again using a clear silicone to seal it in place...
