    What can a Handyman carryout?

I am curious that the gas regulations state that non GasSafe registered folk cannot work on any "gas appliance" yet in a different section it meticulously distinguishes gas carrying parts from non gas carrying parts, as if to suggest that the water parts within a boiler can be worked on without...

Triton Opal 10.5kw Shower (low Pressure)

I would recommend testing the mains pressure initially. If it is low, a tighter jet on the showerhead will stop it from dropping as much when the shower is running. Triton 1 - a bit of a smooth post on this subject - please could you address the accusations that there may be a design fault...

Hot water in Mixer Shower only warm.

The relative position of the knob on the spindle of the cartridge, along with the end stops on the valve housing allow 'calibration' of the valve. This may help make it hotter. Also check the temperature of the hot water from the basin taps.

In line filters to new shower

If the purpose of a filter is to remove any debris contamination, then it is important to have access to the filter. Shower valves usually have in line filters on the connections, which should ideally be removable. If the valve is concealed and the filters cannot be accessed without messing...

Possible leak from main water pipe

You could check for a leak with a pressure test. If there is one, dig up a little concrete around the pipe, but if nothing is evident, then consider laying a bypass pipe and disconnect the redundant leaking section at either end.

    Worn Bleed Valve

I had this problem and have had success using a very small hex socket - only a few mm. If you can get your hands on a very small socket set, you may find one of the sockets can be wedged on to turn it. Doubt if you'll find the right bleed screw anywhere to replace it, mind.

Possible leak from main water pipe

Leaking water can run down the outside pipe from above and pool on the floor where the pipe emerges from the concrete, so check this by tying a rag around the pipe higher up from the floor level to see if it gets wet. Often water drips down from draining board or around edge of taphole on...

    Is this radiator thermostat broken?

You need to align the head body with the lugs before you tighten the ring with the other hand. Great YouTube video. It'll probably have over a million hits by the end of the month!

    Strange Request.... car plumbing

Such a vehicle has a powerful electrical system. You could fit a 12V electrical heater / fan inside the passenger compartment. Until you need to sell the vehicle (which you would do during the summer months...!!)

    Strange Request.... car plumbing

    1. Work on the right hand one using a pointed but not too sharp tool, trying to push out the dents from the inside. 2. Apply http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plastic-Padding-Leak-Fix-Mini/dp/B0001P0IH4 to the outside of the metal pipes and shape it before it sets to a cylindrical shape using a 2...

Probably a filling loop fitted on pipework joining the central heating pipes from the boiler to a cold water mains pipe. Often they are near the boiler, but could be anywhere that the pipes coincide. Is it a combi?

    Fluidmaster Flush Valve

I can see that there is, perhaps, a direct relationship between choice of restaurant and the volume of flush required in the toilet.
