Sorry Ian, not sure if that question is directed at me and I'm not sure I've understood it. This is the pipe that is under discussion.... Thanks

Insurance have declined drain/drive way claim

Hi Nige I've googled interceptor pipe and done some reading. If it is indeed an interceptor pipe would that make it an integral part of my sewage system as opposed to 'redundant' as the insurers are claiming? Thank you

Insurance have declined drain/drive way claim

Thank you. May I ask 1) Why do you think it's a vent pipe? And by vent I assume you mean venting of gases? 2) Should a vent pipe be capped off? ie if it is a vent pipe I can then argue with the insurers that it never needed to be capped There is a massive hedge just a few feet away from the...

Insurance have declined drain/drive way claim

Hi I recently noticed that some of my clay pavers had dropped to the left and right of my manhole. It's now worse than the pics show. The drain cover was lifted and there were roots everywhere. There was also displaced sand which had blocked the sewage. My insurance company sent around their...

Radiator hot in the afternoon but not morning

Hi I've had an ongoing issue that the rads in my bedroom don't get hot. The bedroom is an extension and at the very rear of my property. The property is quite big at circa 4000sqft over three floors. However the ground floor is heated by a separate boiler. Funnily enough the towel rails in the...

    Honeywell ST9400C- setting help

Hi I'm sure I must be doing something really stupid. I'm trying to adjust the hot water settings. I want it to come on at 1200 am, at the moment it's set to come on at 0500am. From 0500hrs if I press the setting minus button it won't go below 0300am. If I try and go the other way ie press...

Hi I'm looking to invest in either Nest or Hive. I'm looking at Hive first. Can somebody explain exactly which components I need please? I'll be having it professionally fitted. Most efficient way to set HW timing with UV cylinder?

Thank very much for your replies. I forgot to mention this system provides HW and CH to the first and second floors. The ground floor (inc kitchen) is run on a combi boiler. I think I've understood what you have all said, however I note it was mentioned that a cylinder of water can be heated in...

Most efficient way to set HW timing with UV cylinder?

Hi I have a system boiler with a 300L UV cylinder and honeywell ST9400C controller. If it makes a difference I have TWS mainsboost as well. I'm just trying to figure out the most energy efficient way of setting the controller for HW. At the moment it is set from 0500 to 0800 and then 1700 to...

    CCTV quote seems really high?

All very valid points indeed. I appreciate there are other over heads to take into account, especially as the company runs vans and employs admin staff etc. I spoke to them again, here are the actual specs. 1) 8 hik vision cameras. 2ce56H0T-IT3Z. Trade price seems to be £65 so total cost £500...

    CCTV quote seems really high?

I agree, it would probably be a two man job. One skilled and the other on hand to help. I will pursue them for the exact model number on the cameras but I would be surprised if they cost more than £60 each. The DVR with HDD I have found on sale for £300. So that gives a hardware cost of...

    CCTV quote seems really high?

Changing the coax is not possible. It would mean ripping the house apart to run cables or having ugly surface runs. And to be honest you can get fantastic high def images over coax, you can even run 4k 8MP over coax. So I definitely won't (and pretty sure don't need to) rip it all out and...

    CCTV quote seems really high?

Hi No, definitely not replacing cabling, so not POE. Some cameras are way up high and I don't fancy climbing up a ladder...and to be honest I struggle to change a plug lol. I do know a skilled handyman who could do it for me I suppose, but that would still leave me to set it up/configure it...

    CCTV quote seems really high?

Hi I already have cctv in place which needs upgrading. There are 8 cameras with shotgun coax cable run to all of them. The cables come back to a DVR in the loft. There is ethernet, power and a telephone line right there. There is also a distribution system there that allows to images to be...

    Perimeter alarm

Just an update. I went for the Risco set up. So Risco agility panel with five Risco watchout sensors. Controlled by either wireless keypad, fob or phone app. Internal and external sounders. I've only just had it installed so its early days in terms of false alarms. Thanks

    Perimeter alarm

Thanks. The pyronix seems to be the answer then. The risco watchout only has two pir sensors. Can I assume that a pyronix sensor will play nicely with a Risco panel? Cheers
