    knauff soundshield plus

Has anybody experience of this product? Does it really provide superior sound proofing properties as compared to normal plasterboard when used on dry walls or ceilings? Many thanks for your help :)

    Wiring for AC unit

Many thanks. I have now found a full time ac installer who will charge a more reasonable fee for fitting and so will be getting him to do the job. Thanks to all for the advice

    Skirting board heaters

Has anybody used these? I know they are more expensive than rads but do they work well? Many thanks

    Wiring for AC unit

As an easy install split unit with short runs I would have assumed it was of the 'ready gassed' variety?

    Wiring for AC unit

Hi I want two AC units in my house, so called 'easy install units' ie condenser on the outside and wall mounted unit inside. In terms of the power supply is it correct I need three core 20a supply straight from the consumer unit? Does it need to be armored? On a slightly different...

    A challenging place to heat

Thanks Galoka Skirting would throw up the same space issues as rads ie that the whole space is covered floor to ceiling in wardrobes.

    A challenging place to heat

Thanks Gav, does what you say apply to electric underfloor heating? Because a water based system would be too difficult to implement in this case

    A challenging place to heat

I didn't think about the noise of air plinth heaters, this could be a real issue. Yes it is off a bedroom and the space is 4200mm by 2300mm. Many thanks

    A challenging place to heat

Perfect! Why didn't I think of that?? I'm not very keen on 'hot air' as a form of heating but this might be the only option Many thanks :)

    A challenging place to heat

Hi I'm having a walk in wardrobe/closet built for a bedroom. I barely have enough space to make this work so all wall space is at a premium and I really don't want to lose any. The floor will be carpeted and so underfloor heating won't be much use. Can anybody think of an alternate way...

Cost of building in blocks + Vs Bricks

I'd be interested to know the answer as well. Most of the houses on my road are brick for the ground floor and then pebble dash. As people have renovated over the years some have had the pebbledash removed and replaced by render and painted. Why should this cause damp?

    Building Regs-window cill height

Thanks Freddy. But it will be a completely newly formed opening and window ie in a newly built extension. Is it still worth me trying to convince them as you mentioned? ie that the older existing windows are 650mm off the ground. Thanks

    Building Regs-window cill height

Thanks very much. So would a 'stay' be considered appropriate as a measure to restrict opening but be easily overriden?

    Building Regs-window cill height

This is in relation to my extension. The original windows of the existing house are about 650mm above the floor so I would like the new ones in the extension to match. I've read that BR state that windows must be a minimum of 800mm above the floor. Is there any way around this or is it a hard...
