Replace timer for Vokerra Excell 80SP

DP, Thankyou very much for your answers - I have a couple of further questions now though ... sorry !! I thought I would need 6 channels (hw on/off, ch on/off, HW & ch on/off). My boiler has 3 switch settings - A 'O' which I presume is off, a '*' (star) which I think means hot water...

Replace timer for Vokerra Excell 80SP

Hello Can anybody point me to a suitable replacement timer for a Vokerra Excell 80SP combi boiler. I am looking for a 7day digital timer. The current boiler controls are located on the front panel of the boiler, it is my intention to run a digital timer to a more accessible location...

Recom'd - Heat sheilded 6 core cable (for boiler timer)

Ahh thanks for clearing that up. Am i allowed to use flex though? as the wiring guidlines for the controller suggest fixed wiring - which i was under the impression was/is solid core. Ideally i want to use 2x3core .75mm flex as this gives me the best flexibilty and I will be easier to use...

Recom'd - Heat sheilded 6 core cable (for boiler timer)

Are you saying that all UPVC cable is heat resistant to 85c by default and I do not need to worry about special heat resistant cabling?

Recom'd - Heat sheilded 6 core cable (for boiler timer)

Dave, Do i need to use heat sheilded cable or will ordinary T&E / 3 core cable do the trick. The wires currently in the boiler are just thin unshielded cables that go to the timer from an internal choc-blok. My intention is to wire directly into this choc-blok (removing the original unused...

Recom'd - Heat sheilded 6 core cable (for boiler timer)

Hi I have a boiler with a non-working mechanical timer that I intend to replace with a more controllable / working modern electronic one. Currently the timer is attached to the boiler itself, so I am considering putting the new timer in a more accessible location - by just extending the...

Joining solid core to twisted cable

All Would the cable 0.75mm 7 Core Pvc Flex Grey be ok to use for a central heating timer ? Does it need to be heat shielded ? Am thinking of using this cable to extend my boiler controller?

Joining solid core to twisted cable

Gaddam it guys - you post to fast for me :) Going to replace the wiring with 0.75mm 7 Core Pvc Flex Grey, this should be ample to carry a 3metre extension of the internal wiring to my control unit and it has the added advantage that i can wire this directly into the existing mains block on...

Joining solid core to twisted cable

Point noted - about the T&E and my misuse of the earth. The controller basically receives L+N and returns 2 switched connections back to the appliance. So yes i use the earth as a live conductor.. I figured that since the T&E is alot thicker (even the earth) than the original cabling it...

Joining solid core to twisted cable

Doh I am an idiot..did not scroll down the page link you sent me .. Think i found the one i need "Ashley J804 Maintenance Free Junction Box 20A 4 Terminal" This will take the 6 wires and i can mix the cable thicknesses Thanks

Joining solid core to twisted cable

Thanks for the reply - to clarify It is an 240v appliance ~5amps . I am fitting a control unit to the appliance by "extending" the internal wiring and the only extension cabling i have is T&E 1.5mm solid core. As there are 6 wires and the extension control unit has no earth anyway I am...

Joining solid core to twisted cable

Hello, I have 6 wires all twisted cable and i need to join these wires to 2 x twin & earth solid cable.. Not able to find a 6 core cable :) Because the wires to be joined are different thicknesses I do not believe a safe connection can be made directly with a 15amp chock box. I am looking...

Just Replaced CH/HW Timer Switch - Seems Odd??

@namsag Thankyou for all your help...Your posts sorted me out On the back of the new Siemens model was a dip switch - as you correctly summarised it was set to "16" - Setting it to "10" as per the original spec solved my issue... Much appreciated.. PS.. Now when CH is on and the...

Just Replaced CH/HW Timer Switch - Seems Odd??

The boiler has 4 pipes on it The new Siemens Rb29 does not have a 10/16 switch it has dip switches only to say 7 day prog/week prog etc.. The old (now i find non original timer RWB2E Landis Staefa) had the switch set to 10 as you directed. Someone has replaced the original unit with the...

Just Replaced CH/HW Timer Switch - Seems Odd??

More questions Does this boiler support seperate switching of CH/HW ? Can anyone suggest any electrical test I can do - i have a multimeter and know how to use it - but I do not know in what area I need to be looking for the fault. I am making the assumption that the boiler functioned...
