    what bulbs are these?

The same as the ones you took out. Sure there's no writing on the flat bits of the lamps? If not, as dannyboi said, check the fitting for the recommended/max wattage.

    Who's crazy? (changing 1.5A supply for 5A)

Point noted. However I'm pretty sure they're internally fused, I'll double check tomorrow. Thanks :)

    Who's crazy? (changing 1.5A supply for 5A)

Got a couple of network switches in a "local" cabinet on an office floor at work which are currently running off 12V 1.5A power bricks (wall warts, whatever you like to call them), these are annoying as when plugged into the power distribution panel in the cabinet they take up 3 sockets. So I...

    New nest for the webcam?

Get that webcam setup so we can watch you poke it / set fire to it / fire nails at it from a high powered nailgun... :)

    Single point of failure.

EM lighting. Problem solved. Especially with the popularity of 12v downlights, it's extremely easy to convert one fitting with an EM pack to provide some light throughout the house. The only room in our house now without some form of EM lighting is the pantry.

My 2nd House Renovation-Lots of Pics!

Nice Job. The boiler in your "utility room(?)", looks to be right against the work surface - have you cut a hole in the work surface to access the heating top-up loop in the bottom of the boiler or do you have other means of access? (the builder who renovated our house forgot about this when...

My first house renovation-lots of pics!

Nice. Is it the angle of the photo, or could the oven door not be opened fully? Has given me a few ideas for a house I'm doing up ready for rent.

You mean the same number as you and most others on here? I think you really need to grow up and get out more if you think a number on a profile is indicative of the number of friends a person has.

Aw, gee thanks. However, I'm not the one who can't turn a light off. Now who's the plonker?

    Any ideas guys?!?

Your TV according to samsung has a 720 resolution, so, not the best for HD but not bad. First, is there a scart lead from your sky box to TV? If so, disconnect it because your TV will probably automatically switch to this when you turn on the sky box (or turn off scart control on the sky...

Whole house surge protectors not available in UK?

That's what insurance is for ;) Check your policy to make sure it covers you for damage caused by electrical fluctuations/surges as some don't.

    speaker cable

If you don't own a subwoofer yet, I'd advise you run sub cables to all corners of your room so when you do get a sub you can position it best to avoid "boom".

    Fitting downlights to Plastic ceilings

Sealed custom formed back boxes by the panel company to fit our requirement, which are "welded" to the panels :)

    Fitting downlights to Plastic ceilings

Sounds like what we have, and after discussion with the manufacturers of the lights and the panels they both said it would be fine. The panel company sent me a large sample which I fitted 4 of the downlights to with 50w bulbs and left them on for a week, no melting or discolouration at all...

Hitachi TV - Dry Joint Problem - Is This DIYable?

They can still pack a fair punch after being disconnected for over a year, saw someone get a fair old whack from a tube that hadn't been used for 16 months at a previous job.

    Meter Bypass (wiring)

This is what I do for all my properties and the tennants deposit more than covers the excess I'd have to pay. If the tennant can't or isn't willing to pay the deposit, then they're not the kind of tennant I want to be honest.
