there could be a problem with the heater or the stat(NTC), its waiting for the water to reach its temp ie 40 but it cant so its sticks. test heater and stat
you probably developed a leak and got water into the base, this will trigger a safety cut out, all the machine will do is run the pump cont until the water has been removed and the leak found, this is a common feature on most dishwashers to prevent it flooding your house

if you find that its filling and draing continoulsy the impeller jug is up the duff, however if its just draining cont there theres a leak and water has got into the base thats a safety feature stop it flooding your house
