    NEVER use glue as it can sometimes be nigh on impossible to remove if you ever need to take it down,if it gets blocked for instance.Just use a litttle clear silicone. :wink:

    Either side you have a tile,under the middle you have you timber,there is no way you mortar will damage the membrane.The only reason people add bits of tile etc is so you dont use as much mortar,this is the only reason.

    @ daveholliday the only reason bits of broken tile/slate is used between the joints is to use less mortar,absoloutley nothing wrong with just using motar.

    If it were mine i would simply do as regency said.Also you could probably get away without removing the bottom courses of slates.Acrypol is £45 per 5 litre tin but worth every penny,plenty on ebay if you cannot source localy.

    I usually just fix the wall plate,fix a 6 x 2 along the back wall and fix my spars onto both and ive never had any problems.

    job cant have been done correctly.It should also be noted the water could be getting in anywhere and traveling to find the easiest exit ie your light fitting.Without seeing it or at the very least pictures its hard to say whats causing the problem.
