Compression Joints - how tight and which type of olive?

You miss the point. Of course PTFE can be used on THREADED joints; that's what it's for. But it's not meant for use on compression joints, not on the olive or the backnut thread. That is a bodge. PTFE on an olive can lead to a joint that is tight enough to make a seal but not tight enough to...

How to make a cast of decorative masonry ?

I was able to bring the dead Victorian builder back to life using the HT coil from an old TV set, but he had no idea what a laser was.

How to make a cast of decorative masonry ?

There is an 'identical' pattern elsewhere on the house, but I see what you mean about the undercut. Might have to go down the cemetary and exhume a late nineteenth century builder!

How to make a cast of decorative masonry ?

Hi all, I live in a semi-detached house built 1897. There is a decorative masonry moulding in the entrance porch that has been half broken away by a previous secondary outer door. My plan is to make a copy of the intact one on the neighbour's house. What is the best way to make a cast...

    High flow shower head

Oh please someone point me in the right direction to find an unrestricted showerhead which will maintain a good bore all the way from the 1/2 inch hose thread to the jets. Why did I bother with full bore valves and 22mm pipework all the way from the street thru the unvented cylinder if the...

    Someone please put me off...

Unless you close the boiler valves and intercept the boiler flow pipe to drain (assuming the filling loop is on the return) and close all but one rad one by one.

Ok then, it's just a 'flusher' that circulates chemicals around rads at the same rate as a boiler, with option to reverse flow and dump.

    Someone please put me off...

Am considering building my own powerflusher machine using a load of lever valves and an old Grundfoss 10-60 circulator. They seem to coat £300 second hand otherwise..... Is this wise??

    Water Pressure Help

Maybe, if no check valves are fitted and bath cold is on mains, but it's probably on the tank. If the bath tap is on mains cold and gravity hot and has a shower divertor beware that hose or head blockage could backfill the tank.....

    Water Pressure Help

Can do that with a kitchen mixer tap if there are no check valves on it - hold your hand on the spout with cold and hot taps open. You will get wet.
