Ive never heard of any harm being done. As long as you have a fully serviced boiler with protective chemicals any towel rad will be fine. ps My little myson towel warmer is perfect on a vented system. Al

EGR valve may be your problem, you can disable/block it to test and see if same result. Al

Using a blowtorch to bend the flushpipe, although some of them seem to burn and harder to bend nice soft angle. Al

It never even crossed my mind, as it is a little cloakroom with paint on the walls. Even one row of 6" tiles might look ok.
