    disabling a socket

Is the join in an allowed area? This is vertically or horizontally in line with another accessory switch/socket/fused spur or 150mm from the ceiling or corner of the room? If it is then it could be Ok assuming it is well insulated ie. with heatshrink/self-amalgamating tape.

    Extending shower cable

10KW shower you will need a 10mm² cable anyway so a new circuit is necessary.

    Range cooker connection

What size is the cable feeding the cooker? It is no good fitting a protection device with a current level higher than the cable is rated and could be dangerous. You do realise that a RCD only gives earth leakage protection and over-current protection is also required ie. RCD+MCB or RCBO? What...

House extension - new electrical installations

They will have to check the elctrical installation in the extension under the same fee but you might find it difficult to get them to do the test and inspection. Therefore who will do this? I guess your pro will not cause he didn't do the work.

    New mains spurs

Debate started! The quality of the incoming mains may well have an impact on sound quality of your Hi-fi setup as you say but that quality can not be affected by using 25mm² tails instead of 10mm² T+E as a supply. This cable choice will affect the current handling and volt drop but not a problem...

How to wire up an oven

You need to provide more detail. At least the power rating of the oven from the spec or the model and make.

How unlucky was he?!? First an electric shock, then a beating from his mate for being so stupid!

    Hob/earth fault??

It is normal to see some low resistance between neutral and earth because they are connected together at the origin of your supply. Depending on your supply type and earthing arrangement this can vary but is nothing to worry about. As for why it tripped in the first place may need further...

    2W Light Wiring Diagram

Basically then what should have been said was the induced field will cancel and not the current. I am still not entirely convinced that this statement holds water The enclosure (your proposed secondary) would be at earth potential and the 'single turn' has such a minute resistance it is as...

    2W Light Wiring Diagram

Sorry that is not true either. If as you say 'the current flowing down one conductor' (the live supply) 'will cancel out the current in the other' (the live return to the light) then no current would reach the light and it would not work!!!

    2W Light Wiring Diagram

Surely that is nonsense and you just made that up. A transformer requires the wires to be made into turns and thus you get magnetic coupling between the 'windings'. Also a 3C&E for two way switching is one earth and three live wires so where would an imbalance come from?

    Electrical Training

I'd imagine it is running a bit low if you have not filled it up since you last asked that question on here

    Broken back box screw

If there is enough screw to grip with pliers then you could try to unscrew the remainder. I have found that if the screw is loose a small screwdriver tip can be used to turn the end and wind it in or out. It not you can drill it out with a 3mm drill bit and re-tap the hole with a 3.5mm tap.

    Ceramic Hob Installation

If there are two live terminals then link them together with a piece of the 6mm² wire and connect the neutral and earth as per normal. Make sure you sleeve the earth with green/yellow sleeving and do the connections up tightly.

How not to run your cables !!!!

If you do notify and call building control to inspect the work they come after the first fix before the work is covered up. If it is covered up they would ask you to expose it to satisfy them anyway.

    CONSUMER UNIT MAXIMUM LOADS

Check your supplier cut-out fuse. If it is 100A then this is your limit anyway and most CU's have 100A rated main disconnector. You may have a lower value cut-out 60A is sometimes found.

    Mains Cut Out

I am not having a go but he was suggesting that a pro gave him this information and unless he has copied it down wrong he may be being taken for a ride if he doesn't understand the terminology thats all.

    Mains Cut Out

That doesn't make any sense. PME stands for Protective Multiple Earth and is a type of earthing arrangement (TN-C-S). The meter has no earthing point only connections for Live and Neutral.
