    EXTRA SOCKET IN GARAGE

Sounds as though this is already a spur unless you have radial socket circuits? If it is a spur already then change it for a fused spur connection and run as many sockets off it as you like. (13A fuse permitting)

    Utility room Extractor

Sounds reasonable as long as the spur is fed from a ring socket and not another spur (Unless you have radial sockets). Also if you are burying the cable make sure it is in the correct zones.

    SWA

Agree with Qedelec. I would always use three core and use one of the core's (not the band!) as a CPC along with the armour. This will have the benefit of reducing the R2 resistance due to being in parallel.

Is this a safe install for spot lights

What you are proposing sounds Ok. Make sure you label all your wires up correctly before you remove the original fitting. You could also use only one JB and loop into the lamps individually using connector strip in chock boxes but this is just an alternative method. Most JB's only have four...

Ground floor sockets ring main keeps blowing

What exactly is 'tripping'. Is it an MCB or an RCD??? If it is an RCD then it could be water related but they will normally trip instantly when reset

Gas bonding - which side of meter/valve

The lever valve is the suppliers side and the customer side is on the right. So yes it is correct. For reference the order is supplier-valve-regulator-meter-consumer

    How to use multimeter

Just to throw my spanner in (or VDE screwdriver!) a multimeter is not an approved instrument for testing if a circuit is live or dead. You should really use a voltage indicator unit such as the Martindale VI13700G and the prove-test-prove method. IMHO multimeters have very long exposed tips...

    Wylex NB MCB

NB for NN boards not NSB. Have looked at TLC and is not mentioned unless I am missing it. Thanks

    Wylex NB MCB

Anyone know what the rated short circuit capacity is for the Wylex NB range MCB's. Ta.

[b]Single 2 Double Socket, then adding an another double Soc

Brand new does not always guarantee working! The new spur will work due to the wires touching each other and making contact but as I said a poor termination at the non-functioning socket may lead to it not working as described.

[b]Single 2 Double Socket, then adding an another double Soc

Broken socket? Or maybe the termination to it is poor due to the number of cables.

    circuit testing

This is best left for the 'qualified electrician' to do as he should do it before he replaces CU as part of that work anyway. You could always get a PIR done before hand if you are worried. Even with the correct equipment and correct readings do you think you will be able to use these to...

    automated distribution board

Most decent companies I have worked for have lockable dist. boards to prevent 'non-suitably qualified' persons from going around resetting circuits that may have been isolated for very good reason, along with ones that have tripped. They don't have to be sparks but trained to know what they are...

    Triton Melting wireing problem, advice?

I had exactly the same problem with a triton shower a few years ago. On mine the internal shower wiring and the supply cable at the shower had badly melted insulation. In this case it was poor connections in the chock block where the wires terminate. I had to replace the shower and the wiring...

Extending a spur with a junction box

Are you sure that the circuit feeding these sockets is a ring and not a radial circuit? What is the fuse or mcb rating supplying it?

    Generator advice

Consider gas powered. Can be safer is some ways over liquid fuel and will probably be cheaper to run going by fuel prices at the moment.

    RCD Spur tripping question..

If the circuit is fed from an rcd at the CU why not replace the rcd spur with an FCU with a switch?
