Which types better.....? Going to fit a spirotech and thought while draining down the system i may as well upgrade the ball valve as its gone crusty due to limescale. Any experiences on both...

Smoking electrics ok now, though the electrician has said

I remember the guy having a heated discussion with the insurance company & said it was a risk if it wasn't changed. I agree with westie101. In reality and if you think about it every bloody thing is now on the computer & if any future claims were to be made it would be based on any remedial...

Smoking electrics ok now, though the electrician has said

Ok just to complicate things I have another connected fuse box upstairs see image (used to be 2 flats now 1 house). So I want to be absolutely sure I’m not going to get any additional headache if I went for theRCD replacement and it sounds as if there might be. Prince of darkness if...

Smoking electrics ok now, though the electrician has said

Ok thanks I understand the differences now. I can see the benefits of having the RCBO's however they are nearly £30+ a pop on screw fix...! How common is it to have a fault on the curcuit? I presume the engineer will test the circuit somehow before actually installing the new unit?

Smoking electrics ok now, though the electrician has said

Ok so let me get this right... as I'm not 100% on what the RCD would actually do when used in this example: I've had a light bulb blow in the past and that tripped what I thought was the RCD in the fuse box e.g the one with the white lever. So how does the additional RCD or even the RCBO...

Smoking electrics ok now, though the electrician has said

Hello Electricians, Some point last week the electrics were smoking see image (left cable going into on/off switch) we got worried and thought it was some load causing it. So we scrambled and switched off most of the appliances. Called the insurance people up as we had emergency cover and...

Coldish Radiator. Need some advice for taking it on tomorrow

Superb did as you said and all is working. On the return valve joint connection to the radiator there was a some crap, mainly pefte tape blocking the small hole. All Rad's working now brill :) One thing I did notice was that the valve on the other side seemed to have a bigger hole. Something...

Coldish Radiator. Need some advice for taking it on tomorrow

Nice 1. Ok I'll try it your way, I'll have my brother with me so man power shouldn't be an issue. Should the flow be near enough the same from both feed & return? I need to switch on the heating so the pump circulates don't I? I guess if the flow is bad on one side I'll remove boards and...

Coldish Radiator. Need some advice for taking it on tomorrow

Ok Faq 21. The water flow rate. I presume all I need to do is close the valves and remove the radiator. However, taking the radiator off this way would result in a complete mess. So maybe drain the system down, cap it off until full but then again that would be a mess also. The bucket...

Coldish Radiator. Need some advice for taking it on tomorrow

No Air in all the Radiators. Closed off all the feed valves on all the other radiators except the problem one. Feed pipe hot. No TRV. The feed pipe is trying hard but I assume can't push the water though. Slight heat at the top. We had these power flushed some time back it appears they...
