Bit of a long shot, but hear we go. I need top notch felt gangs. If you're good, i'll keep you working for the rest of your days. If you're a chancer, you won't get on one of my jobs. Bauder ticket a requirement, Exp in Langley/Iko/Derbigum an advantage. All over the country, and we do...

    Possible wall plate issue

The original detail for that would probably have been metal square gutter sitting on the wall screwed directly to the timber. Gutter would have sheltered the timber. He's fitted a modern gutter system which is not the best way, and the timber needs to be tanalised, which it doesn't look like...

A premium felt roof will last a minimum of 20 years +/ The issue being is Joe Blogs does not have access to the licensed systems. IKO will sell their mid range in most proper roofing stockists, and if installed well you'll get 15 + out of it. Bauder is the ultimate felt system, but at a...

Could it be my Soil Pipe causing my leak?

Would suspect they took the first couple of courses of tile out when they did the fascias, and have not refitted correctly or disturbed the flange of the lead slate.

Folding felt around a difficult roof join.

As said, cut 1 roll in half and lay in valleys, running the excess over the ridge. Drop field sheets onto the valley sheet by at least 6 " Then fit ridge pieces on top of the lot. Sheets should run vertically with a seperate ridge piece.

Aluflash vs Flashband for UPVC roof alongside felt roof?

Ideally you should have a 150mm high upstand at any abutment then a cover flashing over that. Flashband is only ever going to be temporary, and it won't bond to mineral faced felt for long. You coud try a liquid coating but preperation is all.

Damp in bedroom ceiling from flashing on chimney stack.

I would suspect the lead dressed on the tile is not turned up the stack high enough under the flashing. The water collecting force is running up and getting in. You would normally hve a back gutter there. It does look a bit bodgy.

    Roof rafter insulation

Its Bitumen paper, looks like greasproof paper with a hessian reinforcing in it. Used to be used in the same manner as 1F felts.

Rainwater drain totally blocked (probably beyond repair)

If you had deep flow gutter you could block the running outlet on that pipe and see if the water would carry round to the other downpipe. Long shot, but you never know.

garage conversion and the flat roof

If you remove all space between the joist from underneath by packing with insulation it will not require ventilation. A layer of rigid board across the joists after is belt and braces.

Which Underlay for felt shingles? Modern Membrane or Felt?..

I actually said use a felt underlay, sand faced. Nail/staple this on. You will see a bitumen strip on the back of the shingle, once you have nailed the head, lift the shingle and wave a small blowlamp over this strip then press down onto the head of the previous shingle, this will make sure they...
