    Floor Tiling

There are a number of ways of reinforcing a floor. I'll give you the options I use. I generally fit natural products which require more rigidity in the substrate than ceramics, so these will be slightly overengineered for ceramics. 1/ Remove all the floorbaords and replace with 18mm WBP...

How long did it take before you noticed?

I tottaly relate to the original poster, I was Oxford Last year with three friends, one of whom is gay. We all wandered down into this bar and as I walked in I though "This is different" but thought nothing more of it. Took two hours to twig, I should have realised when I noticed the...

    GROUT

Sure nothing wrong with that and it's a very high spec. It depends on what shade Limestone you have, some of the lighter tones are better Suited by BAL Ivory which is few shades lighter than the limestone and is also available in wall and floor versions rather than just the wide joint floor...

    Small tiles, uneven wall?

No it's both, but it's nothing like tile & Grout that you buy in the DIY sheds, this is a powdered material designed for use in swimming pools, avaiable in white and grey as standard.

    The Big Con

There should be a legal cap on the amount people are allowed to borrow, the only reason prices have reached such a high amount is the ease of finance available. If the mechanisms weren't in place for people to be able to borrow such enormous multiples of their incomes then the house prices...

    Tiling round a bath

You need to consider how the tiles cut into the floor, ceiling, top and bottom of the window and the bath. If the bath isn't level, forget it, try setting out from the window sill, if that doesn't work, measure floor to ceiling and start at exactly half way. Just keep trying until you get...

    Small tiles, uneven wall?

Best option is to get a plasterer in to sort it out, problem solved. If you're not willing to do that, there is a professional cement based system for mosaics produced by Nicobond. Tile adhesive and grout all in one that is specified high enough for swimming pool use, I now won't use...

    Floor Tiling

You need to reinforce the existing floor with a minimum 12mm WBP plywood, screwed every 200mm. The old floorboard should be solid and rigidly fixed before you overboard. Then use flexible tile adhesive and flexible grout available from your local tile distributor.

Anti slip tiles - cleaning nightmare

Not a lot you can do here, this kind of surface is designed to be hosed down not brushed or mopped. Take it up with the people who sold them to you about cleanability but don't hold your breath.

    Sagging floor

Until you either pull floor boards up or the ceiling down, you won't be sure what's wrong with it. When you found out what is wrong with it, then you approach the surveyor's, but don't hold your breath. Their job is reall to make sure the whole place is safe and structurally sound, a...

    Tiling round a bath

If your bath isn't level - or flat for that matter you can't really use a full tile off it to start. Are you tiling the entire room or just an area around the bath? It makes a difference how I explain the laying out.

PVA and why you shouldn't use it as a tiling primer.

normally ready mixed rubbish which had a finite life, I've no idea if people use a PVA coat before hand, but by the way many of these strip off I wouldn't be surprised if they had. The rooms you walk into that have 4 inch Crystal tiles that you can strip with a wallpaper scraper are the ones...

PVA and why you shouldn't use it as a tiling primer.

If by years ago you mean before all these carlos fandango adhesives and primers were developed, they didn't use any of it. It was sand/cement render atteched directly to a scratch coated wall. Now this really works, you'll know if you ever tried to strip out any 30's house.

PVA and why you shouldn't use it as a tiling primer.

thats why i say mix with cement and sand and this has the same effect a sbr it stops the pva coming alive, its been done for years before they put it in a fancy tub and renamed it. applying with a roller and the sand will provide the key. Actually if you take a look at the post you made on...
