Combi or system boiler for new build with UFH?

I think this is what my baxi platinum does, because if the radiators are on at 75 and i call for DHW which is set at 45 degrees, the first half litre to a litre is very hot probably due to the heat exchanger temp being so hot still.

Combi or system boiler for new build with UFH?

So a system boiler is similar to a combi with the heating pump and other components all within one white box. Heat only boiler is like the traditional boiler from 30 years ago with external 3 port valve, pump and tank using header tanks?

Combi or system boiler for new build with UFH?

Thanks old but not dead for the detailed reply. 1.I thought with UFH the idea was to have room stats with motorised valves on the manifold so each room had its own temperatures & were more efficient, the same as TRV's on radiators, otherwise all UFH rooms would share the temperature of the room...

Combi vs system boiler and tank

Does this mean for all hot and cold supply pipes that feed taps, they need to have removable capping so that you can access them? From where my mains supply enters to join the stop cock, after that i will need to distribute the pipes around the house to feed the kitchen, bathroom & outside tap...

Combi or system boiler for new build with UFH?

So replying to all answers with more questions, the Walls are cavity construction, 100mm wall insulation, 150mm floor and around 300mm in the loft i believe, I'll also be installing MVHR. 1. I was going to fit TRV’s on all the upstairs radiators if required and have an upstairs portable, or...

Combi vs system boiler and tank

I'd also prefer to not bury them, I just can't think of a way of getting the pipes down to the kitchen sink which is on an outside wall when they'll be routed though the posi joists. Not been in any new builds to see how this is done. Downstairs bathroom wont be as bad because it's stud walling...

Combi vs system boiler and tank

With board adhesive only being thin once the board is applied, are most 15mm pipes chased into the wall?

Combi or system boiler for new build with UFH?

I wasn't aware you could split them this way. Someone will be doing the boiler instal, flue and commisioning. I just want to know what the best options are available before i make contact with trades. Taking the unvented cylinder away from it, what's the main differences between the combi and a...

Combi vs system boiler and tank

I've used copper a lot in the past so formed as many bends as possible but i don't think it's advisable for running against concrete walls behind boards. New build is going to be posi joists so plastic seems to be the easiest way for most of it and maybe chase or batten the walls where pipes go?

Combi vs system boiler and tank

Just jumping on this, what is the best way to get the pipes from the first floor down the walls to the taps on a block construction house but have room for them to be insulated and not touching concrete or board adhesive? Plastic fittings are also large.

Combi or system boiler for new build with UFH?

Advice required for what type of boiler would be recommended for a 2 story detached self build. It will have an upstairs and downstairs bathroom, wet UFH downstairs with radiators upstairs. The boiler and tank if required will be located downstairs. I've used a combi boiler for the past 13...

Water absorption for facing bricks %

I just had a look at a brick ive used a lot of at home and its 16%, i recall doing some of them with the builder on a hot day with normal sand and white cement having to dip them in water because they were pulling the moisture from the cement. We then left it until a cooler day. So the 7%...

Water absorption for facing bricks %

:)Nice reference ha. I'll get some samples an prices then if all are suitable within the 7 to 19 range. Are you saying the 10% will bond better but all will be as strong as each other?

Water absorption for facing bricks %

So is a 7-10 or 19% brick suitable for a colder wetter climate, the 19% one was my colour preference. Apart from the frost concern of them holding water and freezing, I was thinking they might attract more moss/algae if they absorbed more water?

Water absorption for facing bricks %

Can anyone answer what I should be looking for when choosing a facing brick for the exterior walls of a house. I have seen 3 bricks, all F2 but they range from 7%, 10%, 19%. Living in the lake district it does get very wet at times and cold winters so I was concerned higher absorption would...

Render advice for house near woodland

There's so many types outside of traditional, I've seen silicone, acrylic, polymers unless that covers them two. It says acrylic is tougher than silicone but not as good at keeping algae away. Off white or a light grey is what I'd be looking for. White cement never seems to be as durable as...

Render advice for house near woodland

Sand and cement would then need painted though wouldn't it? I thought the idea of K rend etc was to allow it to be more flexible and prevent cracking compared to traditional sand and cement renders. Silicone renders certainly aren't cheap to buy for the user compared to traditional. I looked at...

Render advice for house near woodland

Advice required. I'm looking to build a 2 story detached house in a woodland setting and wanting any advice on the best external render finish for the ground floor. The rear is mainly North Facing, The North and West are within 10-20m of trees. The South facing front not so much. Block built...

Which joists for new build Posi vs I joist?

Thanks John, I won't go off topic & will stick to info. for joists but I'll have a read up on the different types of pipe if it's going to be used for heating & check if I can use one type or require different for tap water and central heating. You wouldn't think air could get into normal...
