taking up a secret nailed floor?

thanks for the suggestions. I pulled up the carpet and a couple of boards in one corner of the adjacent living room but couldnt quite see into the kitchen area. (The earth under the living room was slightly damp/cold but certainly not wet and all the timbers felt bone dry.) I will try the...

taking up a secret nailed floor?

My dining room has an oak floor (engineered? not laminate anyway) layed across the normal suspended wooden floor and secret nailed down with what looks to be 3 or 4 inch staples (I assume - very long, quite thin wire that must have come from a gun). I need to get under this floor in one corner...

    Damp wall

I know this is an old thread but only just got around to looking at the problem again! I finally got some of the decking boards up after finding they were layed with square drive screws and found a bit that fitted, finding a block paved patio underneath. I have cut out a section of the frame...

    Boggy garden problem

Thanks for the suggestions Will. I had a poke around today and there doesnt seem to be tarmac underneath. There are a few inches of soil on top of a sandy layer then very heavy clay with some stones and a brick in there too. The soil I dug up in the corner was very smelly, is this just...

    Boggy garden problem

Our house is on a hill so the gardens of adjacent houses step down and there is a wall between: The previous owners of my house used to have a driveway right to the end of the garden and the fences you can see used to be in line with the gate you can see on the right hand side. The...

No flow in CH flow pipe

I might try turning off all the others to see if that helps. The radiator itself is now lovely and clean inside - quite a bit of black water came out when flushed with the hose pipe but not really thick sludgy stuff. I actually took the TRV off the flow pipe and nothing came out of the open...

No flow in CH flow pipe

the radiator was full of water when I disconnected it, and water does come out of the return pipe when that is disconnected (I am assuming here that flow is on the TRV end and the return is on the lockshield end but guess that might not be the case). As the system is pressurised then the rad...

No flow in CH flow pipe

I have a cold radiator in the house we have moved into. I suspected the rad might be blocked or the TRV stuck so isolated it and flushed it through but that wasnt the problem - there was no water coming out of the flow pipe to the rad (I took the TRV off and no water came out). The rad is...

ok thanks for the suggestions, I shall procrastinate over them for a while until the wife nags me to get rid of the wires hanging down the wall :D

    2 pole mains flex connector?

no - dont think I have ever come across a tv that does have a removable power cord! My LCD computer monitor, the small thing it is does have a kettle lead socket but both my tv's are just hard wired flex coming out the back.

    2 pole mains flex connector?

ha ha - it looked quite big with nothing on the wall but yeah I suppose it is quite smallish in reality :D

    2 pole mains flex connector?

Yeah I have seen the kettle lead ones before - like on the old CRT monitors - thats a possibility but still quite chunky. The wall is actually a disused chimney breast so the hole just goes through the wall and then down the chimney so the cable wont be plastered over or anything and dont...

    2 pole mains flex connector?

[/url] I was hoping for something a bit smaller :D I have seen these used in the past for extending lawn mower cables etc. but seems a bit chunky to fit through the hole
