    Basin mixer width

Hi all. I have a basin with a separate hot and cold taps. My partner has asked to replace this with a mixer. The easiest thing to do would be to replace the basin, however I am trying to keep the costs low. Will a bath mixer fit the spacing on a basin (I think all bath mixers have 18cm pipe...

Leveling a concrete floor with floor boards

Hi all. A friend bought a flat and one of her rooms seems to have a bit of an issue. The carpet showed that some floorboards where slightly concave with some high ridges at the joins. Wr pulled the carpet up, to find floorboards that where sat on what looks like very crumbly screed over...

hot water scalding hands on combi boiler

Hi. I know old thread. But my parents house has a similar issue with another Valiant combi. We have the boiler in a downstairs bathroom and a wall mixer douche hose. Only when the boiler is on the water is scalding hot no matter whether its set to cold or not. The handle gets too hot to touch...

    Running a 4 gang off a spur

I'll be honest with you. I am not sure what RFC means (assume a ring main?) Radials confuse me lol. I checked the furthest kitchen socket and that looks like it is a part of a ring. Or radial from what Google images shows lol

    Running a 4 gang off a spur

Hey. Thanks for your response. I tool the socket part earlier. It is definitely a spur. I don't believe it's a spur of spur as its connected to a kitchen grid switch with fuses for every switch. Will swap it for a double tomorrow. I can't really imagine everything being on together. Thanks...

    Running a 4 gang off a spur

Hi all. I have an area of the kitchen with no work surface and no electric supply. I want to make this area usable and move the coffee machine (1kw, assuming 4.5amps) and baby steriliser (600w assuming 3amps) to that area without making huge modifications to the electrics. The current kitchen...

    Switching tool systems

I guess I started using impact drivers when I was helping a friend do shop signs. It was great to drive tech bolts (tech screws) through sheet metal and extrusions. A part of me me bought this as I needed batteries for the pole saw (one of these). I figured 2 batteries and a charger would cost...

    Switching tool systems

What type of flooring - Laminate / Engineered / Real wood

Thanks for the response. When I compared it, the thickness of the top layer was the same as they other more expensive ones. I asked the staff, they said its because this one uses smaller pieces as opposed to large single pieces. I guess its was hoping for wood as it's warmer to the touch and...

    Switching tool systems

Hey All. I wouldn't say I was dedicated to Ryobi 1+, only owning a few tools. I have now decided to upgrade to more "industrial" brand. . . Dewalt, Einhell, Makita etc. I am certainly not a tradesman, so don't want to spend ridiculous amounts. I am more a DIY'er, that does a lot for both my...

What type of flooring - Laminate / Engineered / Real wood

Hi All. We are looking at re-doing the flooring over the next couple of weeks. What Hallway and Open...

Sorry. My bad. Because I know how to use it, and didn't plan on doing anything with it, I never read it. Read it now. I understand. :D

Economy 7 Hot water cylinder timer

How do you think my current system works? I assume one is the normal heater, the other is boost only? Is the one on one off function built in?

Economy 7 Hot water cylinder timer

I have just noticed a little complication. Most of these switches are rated 3kW. My tank has 2 x 3kW immersion heaters in it (1 at bottom, 1 in middle). The current hortsmann quartz (really old) runs both.

    Attaching metal to metal

Hey All. Thanks for the responses. So Jabra decided to replace them. I just feel it is such a shame to just chuck the old set. I would rather repair them (i hate the throw away generation weve become). So i am still planning on the repair job. My only thing is how lol

Economy 7 Hot water cylinder timer

Hey Guys. I have economy 7 in my Flat - Which seems to work out very expensive (When i have 3 storage heaters on it is around £6 / £8 a day!). I have 3 Storage Heaters (Lounge, Hallway, Bedroom 1). There are also Panel Heaters in the Lounge, bedroom 2 and 3. The hot water comes from a...

    Attaching metal to metal

Hey John. Thanks for the response. Do i need to squeeze the bits together, or just let them rest with each other? Also is there anything i can do to prepare the surfaces? My original plan was to drill a tiny hole through and put a small screw in.
