    Yes, as we can only go on what's described nothing beats on site viewing. Pointing where you are going to render is pointless as it will be filled and the rougher the surface the better. use a waterproofer in the new render and you'll have to have that crack filled on the outside.

    removing hedge

    If that's a yew hedge you can cut out the dead wood and prune it back to the trunks that are left and it will side shoot from these from the ground all the way up.

    should of said the sovereign blue coloured liquid waterproofer, its a good plastersizer as well but you can over mix it so your mortar goes fluffy.

    no cement just lime putty in all coats / mixes.

    you buy the lime putty, just Google it, lots of sellers, comes in big buckets with lime water on top, keep this until the end of the bucket and pour it back on any lime left unused, when the bucket is empty use it in the mix.
