Was planning on getting the CU from online shop and 8 RCBO from ebay and ask a electrictian to fit these. Fair enough only saving few ££ on ebay RCBO so get them new from shop. But if I get these from online shop figured a electrical would fit them...but your saying electrician would only fit...

Thank you. So will follow the path of RCBO made by same manufacture. I have spotted this completed pakage for £140 with SPD. Only issue it comes with 40A...so I will need to replace that with a 50A...

Thats correct, underside of the stairs was not a pretty sight so the builder just fitted that flywood. There is not much room before it touches a step. I can maybe cut away some wood and free up anouther 30mm to the left.

Just noticed those are type AC so not really much of upgrade.. would ideally like type A. This has has been educational so won't bother go down that route (y)

I believe mine is old version knows as "Lewden Control Gear" So looking at some pictures of my MCB and the mini RCBO on google pictures...I see what you mean about the busbar, the position busbar is different so they dont line up properly. So if I get all RCBO then no drama with the busbar??

Oh FFS...so I can't just swap with same brand RCBO?? May I ask did you try same brand RCBO or different :) The mini RCBO with just blue cable seems like the same height as the standard MCB.

You are correct most of the house work can be done switching off power at the consumer unit. I replaced most of the power sockets and light switches by isolate at the CU. The switch has never really crossed my mind. But with EV chargers I hear electricians won't pull the fuse once smart meter is...
