British Gas have quoted to replace our 25 year old boiler!

Ok ,fair enough. But they do always seem to specify weedy boilers these BG chaps. Where's their Christmas spirit?

British Gas have quoted to replace our 25 year old boiler!

Eh? Sure you've done the maths? Rough average for a double rad is ,let's say, between 4000 and 6000 btu's. Multiply x 15 = 60,000 btu's (at least) Boiler's giving less than 50,000!

    Monobloc tap fitting

Only reason you can do it is because the female end of the flexi has a rubber washer which makes leak free joint a lot easier. Any other situation then, yes you would need to retain the nut and olive as that is what the fitting is 'normally' designed for.

British Gas have quoted to replace our 25 year old boiler!

They have definitely not overspecc'd it in terms of output. Can't see that your radiators are going to be bouncing off the walls ten minutes after start-up.

Are back to wall toilets hard to install?

That's not a back to the wall toilet-it's just a close-coupled one. Welcome to the modern world of concealed pipework that every bathroom seemingly must have. In short, you will have to improvise -there are flexis and the like which will make life easier but I still wouldn't want one in my...

Very rarely is it that simple. Have you not got any tiles in your bathroom then? Or flooring?

replacing mira select with mira excel ev

Link takes you to the Excel product page-click on the installation and user guide tab and page 7 of the document gives Excel valve measurements- 150-155mm pipe centres, I believe! http://www.mirashowers.co.uk/onlinecatalog/detail.htm?productNumber=1.1518.309&section=Mixer...

    seized stopcock

This happens sometimes because there are too many heavy handed gorillas who turn them hard against the stop instead of backing them off a fraction after opening. And then the householder doesn't touch it again until years later, with predictable results. If you can turn it just very slightly...

Carbon Monoxide leaking for years in kitchen

Your boiler is ancient. It deserves to go to the knacker's yard. As regards continuing to use it,that is a matter for you. You won't get anyone responsible on here telling you it's ok to do so,I'm afraid.

Placement of hot water cylinder and cold water tanks

Height of cylinder doesn't matter. It's the height of the cold tank from the draw-off points that determines the degree of head. Presumably you are after a mixer shower-this would be fed by the hot and cold stored supplies.

    Central heating problem

It sounds like you are going to need to take the offending rad(s) off the wall (after closing valves either end and draining it) and then open each valve in turn into a bucket and see what comes out. If you have a blockage at the valves this will give you an idea. Also worth hosing out the...

Worcester Bosch 42DCDI, is this a wise move?

Think you did that earlier in a far more stylish manner by clearly forgetting your comments about this boiler in the other thread. 'Meter as large as a microwave oven!'

LIke you just did with your feeble attempt at spelling and logic.

Worcester Bosch 42DCDI, is this a wise move?

Like we don't all know that! Fact remains that its gas flow rate IS (at maximum) 4.4 cu m per hour. So the installation has to be able to cope with this regardless of 'how often' the hot water is on for! Basics! Not sure what point you are trying to make but the less you come...

Worcester Bosch 42DCDI, is this a wise move?

Not much between them I would say. Customer service and length of warranty might make a difference in the end.

    gasfitter screwed me over.....

Just get him back to redo it.he's obviously not v.experienced or v.clever. Some concession from yourself could be in order as you both failed to discuss the job beforehand. Or so it seems.

Worcester Bosch 42DCDI, is this a wise move?

Not sure how you work that out. The OP's previous post confirms it's a combi they're after. And it's gas flow rate according to the manufacturer is 30% more greedy than a 30cdi. You might recall you also had something to say yourself about the 42cdi on a previous posting...

Worcester Bosch 42DCDI, is this a wise move?

Make sure your incoming mains water pressure is sufficient to do justice to the claimed hot water flow rate of this boiler. Likewise gas pressure at your meter will need to be adequate and pipe sizing for the gas will also be critical on this gas hungry monster. Your installer should check...

Cold radiator - help undoing Danfoss TRV PLEASE??

These Danfoss TRV's are bidirectional but you have to select the direction on the top of the valve body depending on whether the valve is on the flow or return side of the rad. You will see on the right hand side of the valve itself(once you've taken the head off) a small black vertical line and...

Cold radiator - help undoing Danfoss TRV PLEASE??

Well it's a plastic on plastic thread as you have probably worked out. It must undo with a decent set of grips on the grey collar. As you look at the valve from in front of the radiator and put the grips on it so the handles are pointing towards you, you then turn the grips anti-clockwise...
