ground source vs solar vs air to water

It's still worth considering solar even if it will only contribute to rather than provide a solution in itself. The cost of buying and installing can be reasonable and only seems excessive because we have become used to and reliant on gas combi boilers that are increasingly made of coke tin...

ground source vs solar vs air to water

Only if they are open fires. If closed stoves connected to factory made flue or through lined chimney with stove pipe and register plate assembly, then heat loss not a problem.

ground source vs solar vs air to water

Heatpumps are far from free. They are another form electric powered heating system that utilises air or ground temp to greatly improve their efficiency. As said earlier our electric production is mainly coal or gas generated which keeps prices high enough to prevent even 400% efficient heatpumps...

    Fireplace Install

You could consider a free standing stove in the fireplace recess. You'll still need a constructional hearth, liner, register (closure) plate and stove pipe. The appliance will cost more but it's far more efficient and safer.

Any one else made to feel a fool by technical helpline's

Now he's London Mayor, Boris Johnson has to watch his p's & q's otherwise your statement may give him excuse to accuse you of wallowing in victim status. As for rude helpine the old f***wit at Trianco - deserves to have his genitals attached to his HT leads.

I'm talking about the comparisons not being fair (including those from previous poster), not the individuals salary.

    Gas supply size help

That's not really fair doitall. There's an art to every job and that we've overlooked that fact has only led to poor service. What each person earns may depend on supply & demand and should reflect how good and hard they work. Unfortunately sometimes it doesn't.

    Gas supply size help

Instead of RGI's having to explain, and being as the trade is the accused, lets have for a change the case for the prosecution first on this occasion. Perhaps you could illustrate your point, for the benefit of the forum, by providing an hourly breakdown of what a Corgi registered operative...

    Gas supply size help

Sorry OP, in mid-post missed that you had logged off. In case you come back I'll recap in layman's terms. When renewing a boiler select one for your needs. Then it's gas rate and working pressure manufacturer's data must be observed. From there it is possible to work out the pipe size...

    Gas supply size help

In this instance you are confusing efficiency with gas pressure and flow. Pressure and flow are worked using the boiler consumption input rate. Efficiency is a matter of how much of that energy is converted to useable heat and how much is lost out of the flue. The more efficient appliance will...

    Gas supply size help

Because you are confusing the volume required for burner pressure (which is all it needs to function) with that for working pressure (which is what it needs to ensure safety).

    Gas supply size help

We all know this is the case. Spooked seems to believe that pipesizing diagrams/charts are rules when they are simply worked examples of how you can design to ensure the above is achieved. The same as 2 x 50p = £1 doesn't mean there's a rule against any other permutation to arrive at the same...

    baxi direct rewards

Agreed in the case of Worcester as boilers are not cheap and some of their millions spent on marketing and running hundreds of suits round the UK in cars unnecessarily could easily go into making kit they were once respected for.

The installer's attitude would be inexcusable in that case.

    baxi direct rewards

Some good points G/guru, but to supply the right R&D, design/build quality would require product cost to rise sharply. A good thing if ownership costs reduced but in a market where consumers want CH systems for 3 figures, hard to see a manufacturer who'll have the bottle.

    Gas supply size help

If you read about pipesizing you'll find what you've just decribed, in the above, is the rule. Pipesizing doesn't make Corgi any money, people who pay their fees do. But if you are, as you describe, a layman that won't include you.

    Gas supply size help

I always give a factual answer to questions about pipesizing to laymen. The silliness starts only if the said laymen change their mind and suddenly become pipesizing experts upon suggestion that their installer might be correct and money may need to be spent. In my experience in the field I've...

    Gas supply size help

If you could read as well as you can s*** stir, you'll see I made no objection to the question and was the first to answer the OP. My later comment was made against the usual result in posts about pipesizing where an OP continuously remains in denial despite the same answer being given by many...
