House Renovation: Oil or LPG ? (heating options)

My recently negotiated 2 year deal with Calor is 29p per litre fixed for 1 year, then 32p per litre for the second year, plus 17.28p per day standing charge. To all prices add VAT. But they did give me a oneoff £250 cash back. After the 2 years I can look around again. Switching is not as easy...

House Renovation: Oil or LPG ? (heating options)

LPG contracts now 2 years with right to switch and new supplier takes over the existing tank. Still expensive but better deals out there than years ago.

    Shower pump not cutting in

With the pump turned off do you have a reasonable unpumped flow of hot and cold water. I recently had a pump fitted and it would not cut in when cold required and when hot was run the mixer valve would turn off with anti-scald feature. The problem was an air-lock in the cold feed pipe.

Stanley dual fuel oven and central heating

If it happens to be the same model as mine I am happy to scan diagrams and email them to you. I think you can rule out normal operation of the stats as they would need manual intervention to get them going again which is not happening. Also need to not assume you have 2 stats wired the same as...

Stanley dual fuel oven and central heating

Have you got a wiring diagram ? Which model of Stanley is it ? I have a 100k twin series. It is old but works fine. Live to the programmer comes in via the mains tagblock and then through the 'Oven Limit' and then through 'Boiler Limit' stats. I think these are button operated and re-settable so...

    Painting pipes

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't considered that the decorators had done it, makes sense though. Also understand what a pain it is to the plumbing fraternity.

Immersion heater doesn't seem to heat with timer

Sounds like the heating element that the timer is connected to is faulty or its trip has popped out. If you were my tenant I would expect you to call me.

So how do you do the waste on something like this ?

http://www.ideal-standard.co.uk/product-details/floor-standing-bidet/T5192.html Just looking at some "Back to the Wall" stuff and wondering how you do the waste. I presume the waste is presented to the correct position and then the appliance is slid into place and then the outlet is fitted...

    Sandtex Trade or not

Picked up a brochure for Sandtex 'Trade' products yesterday. Looking around I see that Screwfix sell Sandtex in a range of colours but these are, obviously, not branded as 'Trade'. Question: is there a difference between the Trade and non-Trade products ? andytw

how to cut copper pipes in tight spot

Just a story re Plastic v. Copper......My neighbour had quite a bit of trouble with copper pipework under the block and beam floor.
