    Good riddance tobacco!

Is there any real credible defence for someone wanting to be obese and calling it freedom of choice ? Sounds like lefty bullshine to me. Whats wrong with a society that cares about it's members health ? To call that a nanny state or dictatorship is stretching things some. As the old...

    Good riddance tobacco!

Hell yeah...we certainly should ban obesity. Why is it so many obese women wear leggings ?? And with holes in. Should ban that. While we're at it we should ban old unfit men from wearing bright white trainers. And jogging bottoms. Many of them have are clearly unfit and just look like a...

    Guitar

Ok. If you don't play all that much then put lighter strings on the guitar. You'll lose a little volume but you wont have to press down so hard. Keep your nails short. Just keep playing. Play till your fingers hurt so much that you have to stop. Play a chord ......Am.....hold the strings down...

    squatters rights

People living in sheds....ha. I propose a new immigration policy. Count the amount of homes we have. Then count all the people that are already living here. Then only let people migrate to this country when there is a home available for them to rent or buy. Simples. How and why have we...

    Good riddance tobacco!

I don't think anyone would actually want their kids to smoke. And we would all rather they drink sensibly......pfffffff. But this aint Disneyland......is it ?

    Bad Company

Was Jeffrey Archer middle class ? What about Jonathon Aitkin ? Or were they upper class ? People from middle class families normally have more of what they want ie; i was doing a job recently in a college. An awful lot of the youngsters, that had cars, had cars newer than mine. I been working...

    Bad Company

I think most of us have mates. Some of us have friends. I think, personally, if you have one true friend then you are lucky. People are complex. Thereby deeper relationships are inherently complex. When i was young i was drawn toward 'wronguns'. Got myself in a lot of trouble. It can be a...

Cleaning London stock bricks - nothing seems to work!

Looks like you're trying to wash off 100 years of pollution there. Thing is this is absorbed into a 'stock' brick. To clean them up, with anything too dramatic or abrasive, is to actually erode the face of the brick. I would advise you to seal the brickwork (thomson) after you have done...

    Bad Company

Good question calorific. I don't think anyone has come up with the ultimate answers to this. I do know though that if i had my time again i would find, and become firm friends with, Jo Frost aka super nanny. :)

    Good riddance tobacco!

I quit smoking 3 weeks ago. I have hated the fact that i smoke for years now. I've quit at least 10 times. Each attempt to quit was ruined by the fact that in the early stages of quitting i get extremely irritated by everything. I find it very hard to keep my temper. And most of my quit attempts...

    Guitar

Hi Sombrero, Just keep playing really. Experiment with what you know. Finger picking chords can sound like you're playing a lot more than you actually are. You tube is good for tutorials. Theres a lot of good short vids well explained and easy to follow.

    Bloody Noise Complaints

I just apologise for the noise. But really if i had to do it on a sunday i would. Seems to me everyone else does whatever they want around here so why shouldn't i ? Dogs barking. Kids screaming (on trampolines). Music blaring out. My diy noise fits in nicely with all that. And it drowns out the...

    I don't understand

Apparently a lot of the stars we see now are already invisible (they implode i think). We are only seeing the light that used to shine from them. It's just taken so long for that light to reach us. It could do your head in, trying to understand it all. When i was a kid and couldn't sleep...

    Throwing a penny

You planning something Captain ? Although you'd have to have unbelievable timing/luck to pull that off. Better off just running them over and claiming it was an accident.

Jimmy Carr, the tax dodger ? Shame on him then...dodging his taxes and then making jokes about the disabled. Some people.

Garden Wall - recementing bricks and repointing

I would re-build the two skins without filling the gap initially. When you've built it let the bricks set a little. Then i'd fill in afterwards. If you fill as you go then you may push the two skins apart (if you see what i mean). I would think this wall was originally built using lime...

    lifes not fair

Don't forget to add bankers to the 'scumbag' list. Funny how it used to be used car salesmen and estate agents that were most hated. Oh yeah newspaper magnates too (or one in particular). And throw the solicitors into the mix too. The ones that keep texting me telling me i'm entitled to...

    Beam and block floor clearance

I did a block and beam floor for an 'Orangery' (oooo). Spec said as above min 150mm void 2 air bricks on each flank and oversite covered with geo-textile membrane. Ground under block and beam was left clay/soil level with ground surrounding the 'orangery'.

    Congratulations to

Yeah...good weren't it Pred. Bloody good ride from Cal that. I thought it was inevitable that Dovizioso would catch him. Dov has ridden really well all year. Think that'll do Cal the world of good confidence wise. He clearly has the talent and determination. He's just not had much luck.
