Turn off flow and return isolating valves under boiler just above turnoff point on both valves there is a nipple loosen either one and catch the water this will empty boiler renew auto air vent.

If you are confident about checking mains voltages and have the equipment check both sides of pcb fuse, you should check any other external controls 1st ie motorised valves.

When frost stat operates in cold weather the flow will only being going around bypass as twgas suggests so if this is blocked or restricted, or not as spec the boiler will overheat and button will pop out.

Only guessing on Model, but good point I believe MI stated 3metres 22mm pipe run for bypass on these, maybe system getting a bit blocked.

Have a proper power flush done and fit a Magnaclean to system.

You most likely need to replace your pressure release valve and check out faq 7.

Sounds like your flush pipe has been cut to short this causes it to pull back.

The cold feed is also the expansion pipe and should never have any sort of valve fitted to it mainly because a valve could be turned off and forgot leaving nowhere for the water to expand apart from open vent that is.
