don't know loft hatch size,but you could get two cisterns that fit through hatch,and combine them. make sure it has good support and cistern on load bearing wall.

get unvented register engineer out and check inline strainer,on combination valve. pressure reducing valve ,& check valve. hot cannot be siphoned to cold taps from cylinder if check valve is operating correctly, unless its been installed wrong :shock: i believe the sandy stuff is lime...

sounds like the condensate plastic pipe union that connects to condensate trap. the nut has a washer inside,it might need replacing. they often leak. i some times p.t.f .e the thread

c55,c40 are tricky to repair,but can be repaired if economical to do so. i will do a list of fault finding ,once i've sorted how to download pics. im doing a list for me engineer mates. nothing worse than getting stuck on boilers late at night.

need r.g.i out to check,service boiler,ventilation,spillage test ect,for peice of mind.

if it helps,is there a 22mm gate valve on cylinder return,if so open it more, it may have collected debri & blocked. if S PLAN should be a bypass,maybe sticking. take pump head out it may have debri inside impelleror pump worn. or the micro switch on zone valve sticking.
