    Dimmable LED lighting system?

I'm using aurora enlite dimmable LED GU10 lamps with fibaro dimmers and having no problems at all - they dim perfectly from 100% to 1% - no hum, no flicker. I've also got some cheapish (from amazon) dimmable LED E14 filament lamps with fibaro dimmers, which work reasonably well, although they...

    Warning: I got sloppy.

If it's a new house, the electrical installation should have been tested when it was built - one of those tests is to confirm polarity and that switching is on the line conductor.

Best wall chaser and dust extractor?

The Hilti DCSE20 is very good and when used with a decent dust extractor (Henry or the like) you can avoid making too much mess..

How about Architrave blanking plate drilled with 16mm stuffing gland? You could fit the gland in reverse, which might give a flusher finish...

What is the obsession with Smart home solutions?

If you're interested, this is how I'm working it out. var Number averageHumidity = 30.0 if (YahooHumidity.state instanceof DecimalType) averageHumidity = YahooHumidity.averageSince(now.minusHours(24), "mysql") as DecimalType // temperature var Number averageTemp = 20.0...

What is the obsession with Smart home solutions?

They might, but something stuck in the ground and measuring soil moisture is more likely to. I don't consider windspeed, no. I might look into that for the future if it is likely to make much difference.

What is the obsession with Smart home solutions?

For my purposes it has been very reliable.

What is the obsession with Smart home solutions?

That would probably be even better, but I'm not really that keen a gardener... I just want to try to avoid them dying. I get weather data from yahoo, so it basis it partly on if there has been or will be rain in the past 24 hours. It saves having sensors, which could potentially go wrong etc.

What is the obsession with Smart home solutions?

I am one of the few who does actually see benefit in some "smart home" systems. I also work in IT and have partly written my own home automation system (based on various open source projects). The main things I get out of my home automation system: Accurate control of heating when necessary...

    Fitting ethernet adapters across phases

Fair enough, If you've got a pair, twisted or otherwise, VDSL will probably be the way to go. You can still run voice over it if you need to and AFAIK (haven't tried it, I've only used the same each end) you can use a standard VDSL modem at the CPE end (openreach modem, bt homehub, etc) I will...

    Fitting ethernet adapters across phases

Something like this https://www.zyxel.com/products_services/VDSL2-Modem-P-871M/ will enable you to "serve" your own broadband connection over an existing telephone cable. If there's a cable there at the moment though, are you sure that someone with sufficient experience isn't able to run a cat5...

replace double socket with commando socket?

Or buy / make an adaptor to convert the 32a plug to a 13a one - the chances are you won't be able to terminate the cable from the PDU in a 13a plug. Or use a fused spur to supply the 32a socket.

    No EPC - Advice Please?

Thank you for the constructive reply. The last sale prior to mine was in 2001 (over 10 years before my purchase and before EPC's came in). I'm still waiting for the solicitor to retrieve my file from storage, which they are going to need for the sale anyway, so I will see what comes of that...
