a little help needed on wiring sat round the house please.

Cat6 outlets for £1 each? from where? I struggled to find cheaper brushed chrome faceplates too. I do take your point on the f-type connectors though. I made my own patch panel and did start making my own modules too.

    Replacing damaged cable

A maintenance free box, such as the one mentioned above would probably be a better (and much easier) option than soldering it.

a little help needed on wiring sat round the house please.

I've just done a complete refurb on the house I intend to move into soon. Here's what I did (at very little cost) Sky dish with octo lnb on the side of the house - 4x twin satellite cables (WF100) back to under stairs cupboard. Virgin Media cable back to under the stairs cupboard. BT...

Fan wiring with pics posted! What's happening?

What do the terminals say? If it's got a timer on it, I'd say there should not be an earth connected, looking at the number of terminals there.

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

Thank you - All I was looking for was an answer to my question. My question was: is it a straight swap or not? It appears that the answer is: No, it needs setting up.

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

Thank you - we are getting somewhere now. So there are variables to be set on the PCB, which an RGI will need to adjust. This can be done when it is serviced, I just need to let him know.

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

so are you saying the gas rate and fan speed would not be checked as part of the service and that these are variables that would need to be configured on the PCB at installation?

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

Cool, so replace the faulty pcb, get it working. Then get it serviced - all safe and happy.

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

Thanks - I was planning on getting it serviced soon anyway, so presumably the relevant checks should be done as part of that?

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

Thanks for the replies. No, I am not a landlord, and no, I'm not looking to "cut corners". I am however, someone who prefers to DIY, which I thought was the spirit of this forum, hence my original question of "does the PCB require any additional configuration or not". I am someone who is...

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

Thanks, so I can't test the fan resistance without opening the combustion cover? It can't be done where it connects to the PCB? There are no signs of leaks and the boiler has been regularly serviced. No, not gas registered, so won't be removing the combustion cover.

Ok, so what else should I be looking at?

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

Thanks, yes I did read that the fan can be the culprit. I was intending on measuring the resistance across the fan of the faulty and known good boilers and comparing the two. I was really just wanting to know if the pcbs can just be swapped? If it turns out to be the fan I understand I'll need...

    Ideal Icos DIY PCB Replacement?

I've got an Ideal ICOS HE24, which appears to be dead. There is no output on the LED display and switching the power switch doesn't make any difference. There is 240v going into the PCB box and the fuse is good, so based on other peoples issues, I'm going to assume that the PCB is faulty...

smoke alarms with battery back up

Likewise, so do mine. Added to the fact that if the power fails and it's on a dedicated circuit, there can only be a fault with the smoke alarm (or associated wiring)

smoke alarms with battery back up

1.17 The power supply for a smoke alarm system should be derived from the dwelling’s mains electricity supply................If alarm comprises no stand by power supply, [ie AC ONLY] no other electrical equipment should be connected to this circuit. [ie AC only alarms, must only be wired back to...
