Can I get a generic replacement for this very specific fixing?

Sorted now. It was actually the screw, not the thread. I initially bought an M4 thread chaser, which was held properly by the thread, but the screw still didn't work. A new M4 screw, and we're in business.

Can I get a generic replacement for this very specific fixing?

That just takes me to a "temporarily unavailable" page, unfortunately.

Can I get a generic replacement for this very specific fixing?

We were gifted a Homcom self-assembly shoe cabinet by a friend and, right at the end of the assembly process - literally when trying to install the final screw - I discovered that the threaded metal insert in the plastic fixing below has stripped and so the screw will not tighten (note that the...

Replacing a leaking thermostatic radiator valve - where do I start?

Well that's what I was asking really, wasn't it? What *can* go wrong? I'm genuinely interested to know why it's not recommended to do the job without draining the entire system. Can you go into specifics?

Replacing a leaking thermostatic radiator valve - where do I start?

Why is that, out of interest? I've now watched some YT videos about how to do it without draining the entire system and it doesn't look too scary. Then again, draining and refilling the system doesn't look scary either now that I've watched relevant videos (we have a combi boiler).

Replacing a leaking thermostatic radiator valve - where do I start?

Just discovered a leaking radiator valve that's usually hidden behind some furniture. I don't have any DIY experience with central heating beyond bleeding radiators - how involved a job is this?

115V AC between the dishwasher and the tile edging?

Thanks all for the input. I picked up a socket tester on the way home from work, and confirmed that all the kitchen sockets are fine except the dishwasher one, which has an earth fault. It does rather look like the dishwasher socket was fitted as an afterthought by Uncle Bob rather than a...

115V AC between the dishwasher and the tile edging?

I was lying on the floor trying to inspect the bottom hinges of the dishwasher door, as it was sticking, and I suddenly felt like I'd had something jabbed into my leg by the tile edging. I couldn't see or feel anything on the edging that would cause that, so I went back to what I was doing, and...

What do I need to connect the waste to the drain? Just a piece of 40mm pipe & a nut?

Job done, and seems to be watertight. Thanks all :)

What do I need to connect the waste to the drain? Just a piece of 40mm pipe & a nut?

Thanks for all the advice, but can anyone 100% confirm that the replacement assembly should have the trap under the small sink rather than (as currently installed) under the main sink?

What do I need to connect the waste to the drain? Just a piece of 40mm pipe & a nut?

Some differences of opinion here :) I'm happy to pull it all out and replace. So I'm sure I understand correctly, it looks like the existing assembly is all attached via compression fittings and I can just unscrew, remove and replace as per the yellow markings, and then install the new assembly...

What do I need to connect the waste to the drain? Just a piece of 40mm pipe & a nut?

I'm trying to envisage what I'd actually need so that I'm not guessing and having to make multiple trips to and from Screwfix. If the trap is now going to be underneath the small basin, won't I need at least one 90-degree elbow and a length of straight pipe that I'd have to cut to length? Or is...

What do I need to connect the waste to the drain? Just a piece of 40mm pipe & a nut?

So you're saying that it really needs to be installed as a mirror image of the above? The main pipe to the trap coming off the small sink rather than the big one? With the trap being under the small sink, what should I be looking at to connect it to the pipe going through the wall? Some kind of...

What do I need to connect the waste to the drain? Just a piece of 40mm pipe & a nut?

Here's a video. The issue all seems to be on the vertical section coming off the small sink, which is fractionally too long. I've had it all apart and there's no scope to shorten anything. It feels like there ought to be an option for a single flexible coupling to go between the sink and the...

What do I need to connect the waste to the drain? Just a piece of 40mm pipe & a nut?

The is under our kitchen sink, the small sink next to the big one. The previous owner had connected the sink to the drain with the bits in the second photo, which are too long and force the drain pipe down at an angle and leave the rest of the waste pipes cocked and occasionally leaking. To my...

I'm guessing this drain is supposed to be blocked like this?

OK, will do. Just seems *too* comprehensively blocked for it to have happened unintentionally.

I'm guessing this drain is supposed to be blocked like this?

We've been living here for about 8 months and have no drainage issues that I'm aware of, but I've only just noticed that this drain underneath a rain gutter is completely and, apparently, deliberately blocked with soil and stones (grating removed by me). Presumably the idea is that rainwater...
