One third of Britons admit being racially prejudiced

Sorry but I beg to differ, I served 2 years in Saudi and when I finally returned to Europe I was glad to 'dry-out', Due to extreme boredom hiding from the midday sun having a drink (alcohol) was common. Working alongside many 'princes' who were western educated supply was no problem, however I...

    Can you add a hot-water tank to a Combi-system?

We have our hot water and central heating supplied by an Ideal Logic combi 35, however our rear kitchen is currently heated by a wood-burning stove. The house is part of a terrace with the rear south-facing, getting no sun at all and with a solid floor is always cold. I am considering...

    Building Reqs - Conservatory Extension

If I were you I would just wait and see what questions any potential buyers ask, then take it from there. We sold our 16th century cottage last year and were asked no end of totally irrelevant questions. Building regs change all the time and common sense needs to be applied. If there's an issue...

One third of Britons admit being racially prejudiced

When I worked abroad especially in arabic countries I did my best to conform to their customs, communicate in their language etc, When in Rome do as the Romans do. Why don't 'they' give us the same consideration. This country has gone too far pandering to non english speaking incomers...

Live in it as it is for a few months, you may be surprised to find that your initial ideas & plans alter as you see how things like daylight & shadow influence your choices of colour, plus you'll get a better idea of how you want the house to be. As already mentioned do all the necessary...

Ideal Logic combi 35, Flue question

The wall will be in a covered courtyard, open at one end. In the first set of plans the boiler was to be mounted on a disused chimney breast, the exhaust flue running up and the 'intake' drawn from the interior of the chimney. Those plans were approved but we had the architect change them due...

Ideal Logic combi 35, Flue question

I rang the number supplied with the extension kit and the guy there simply stated that whilst the minimum distances were set the actual max length wasn't stated. It seems it's down to the fitter bearing in mind the recommended distances to openings etc. Thanks anyway

Ideal Logic combi 35, Flue question

WE have an Ideal Logic Combi 35 fitted 6 months ago under the 'nest' scheme and so far very happy with it. 15mm or 22mm?

The copper Hot water outlet from my condensing boiler is 15mm copper for the first couple of metres then joins 22mm up to the first floor where it reverts back to 15mm. I guess the copper 22mm is a hangover from when the hot water tank was upstairs. My question is, Is there anything to be...

Window removed & replaced by door

i'll try and put some pics up tomorrow, as I said its stone and brick solid wall, there is no way of seeing what lintels are in place as externally the wall is rendered and internally plastered. The reason for Lime plaster is because it's an old building which used lime in the construction...

4 electric toothbrush plugs into 1 socket.

The answer to the question 'I can't help wondering why you need 4 electric toothbrushes' is simply, Time. I'm happy to say that whilst the boys maintain excellent dental hygiene regimes, they, in common with most teens, do not like getting out of bed. We have double basins in the family...

Trick to find a septic tank

Are you sure it's a septic tank or is it a cesspit?. If it's a tank the current owners should have some idea if it's ever been pumped out. If not get your solicitor to ask the question regarding actual location as part of the conveyance. We had a cottage where the 'septic tank' turned out to...
