Soil stack venting - air admittance valve

I have 2 toilets connected to a common plastic inspection chamber downstairs, I believe the bath and sink also connect to this, The outflow from this got to a shared drainage manhole outside that has 4 houses connected to it including mine.... The other houses have vents. Is it enough that...

replacing honeywell motor in motorised valve

Fortunately I do have a multimeter but didn't need it because my valves have an led that indicates when open. So I operated the valve manually and the led lit up and everything started up as normal. So I knew the motor was receiving power.. Good luck..

replacing honeywell motor in motorised valve

I had an issue recently of a valve not working. Turns out it was the motor so I replaced it with a motr from Screwfix.. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/28670/Plumbing/Central-Heating-Controls/Synchronous-Motor I have Myson valves but it still worked a treat, a bit cheaper than a new valve and I...

    Leaking Pressurised Central Heating System

I had the same issue with my pressurised system. In my case, yes water was leaking out but only because of the raised pressure during heating. The raised pressure was being caused by the non-functioning pressure vessel. I fixed it with a foot pump. De-pressurise the tank. Find the charge...

Soil stack venting - air admittance valve

I currently have 2 toilets, 1 down and 1 upstairs. They are connected together into a common drainage system downstairs. The drain pipe run for downstairs is internal until it is above the upstairs toilet then it goes through the wall to vent to outside. There are no other vents in the run...

    Soil pipe vibration??

Yesterday I heard a humming noise which became quite loud. I discovered that the soil pipe was vibrating. This vibration could be felt by touching the stack. Also the toilet seats were doing the same. After a toilet flush it went away, diminishing slowly to a low hum and then no noise at...

boiler scrappage eligibility ariston eurocombi sx20 mffice

I Found an installation manual on Ariston web site: http://www.ariston.co.uk/uploads/doc47f5fb3f1e77d.pdf On the front page it says its a type C, probably not helpful but it does say in the manual that the boiler has a secondary heat exchanger so I think its not going to be a 'G...

Lockout on Potterton Suprima 60 Boiler - lock out

With regards to the loss of pressure which I thought was a leak in the bypass valve. After further investigation I discovered the pressure vessel needed re-pressurizing. Which I done using a foot pump(instruction under wiki). With the tank re-pressurised the leak stopped and all was well for 2...

SOIL STACK: Condensation from inaccessible joint

I positive that the water is coming out of the joint. I witnessed it in the past and tried to seal it with waterproof sealant which worked for a while. It was keyhole surgery trying to do it. I don't want to take tiles and boxing off again because I'll do major damage. The pipe does not exit...

SOIL STACK: Condensation from inaccessible joint

Condensation from inaccessible joint... I have a water leak running down my internal soil stack which is coming from a joint that is 1 metre above the highest wet entry point. The joint seal is broken and during these cold months condensation is forming higher in the pipe and escaping out...

    Pressure relief..

At the moment its not leaking. It did tend to take a while to shut off when I was mis-using it. I could hear water leaking through but its now sealed so I'll leave it alone. The CH is getting to full temp, the pressure valve reading is rising only slightly and there's no leak from the...

    Pressure relief..

Is this ok: I used a hand pump on the schrader valve and pressurisd the system to about 1 bar, I then used the overpressure release vale by the pressure gauge on the expanion vessel to release all pressure to zero. This caused the pressure on the schrader valve to also zero. I repeated...

    Pressure relief..

Hi, I have a closed CH system, with an expansion tank. Boiler is a Suprima 60, expansion tank is a red bulbous thing with a pressure relief valve on top that has a gauge that red lines at 3.0bar. Earlier today I noticed pressure was shown as .60 on a luke warm system that was just starting...
