Idiots guides to thermostats and efficient heating design?

Can I just point out that a combi boiler would be a condensing boiler, all boilers now must be condensing, the difference in boilers is combination boilers where the hot water is provided instantaneously from the boiler via a plate heat exchanger, or a system boiler, where a hot water cylinder...

Is this work acceptable (pics)? Central heating system.

If plastic pipes are to be buried in screed they should be in a conduit, no joints should be buried in the screed,

Yes the carpet makes all the difference to the plumbing system Tony.

But that was the logical thing to do from the outset, if he was not happy with the work and the builder said it was fine, then the only sensible thing to do is get the opinion of another installer on site, there is no other way, photos on a web site in this situation does not tell the whole...

Is this work acceptable (pics)? Central heating system.

So you think that the DIYnot forum is the solution to his problem, yes I agree as the home owner he probably does not know much about plumbing, but he knows enough to think there is a problem, asking on here and showing pictures for others to criticise is not the right way to do things, if he...

Is this work acceptable (pics)? Central heating system.

But he already has assessed it himself, his first comment "I'm concerned about the longevity of this installation". that's all the assessment he needs as the paying client he is not happy, that is the end of the matter, do you think that no one ever complained about an installers work before...

Is this work acceptable (pics)? Central heating system.

It is not unfair, his first post said "I'm concerned about the longevity of this installation". That is all that matters, he is the paying client, if he is not happy with the work then as the client he has the right to ask for it to be changed, it is pointless asking on here, you could show...

Is this work acceptable (pics)? Central heating system.

So you think the conversation will go better when he tells the installer he is not happy with the work based on him getting the opinion of others on a forum, yeah that will go down just great, he is obviously concerned about the installation and not happy with the work HE is paying for, what has...

    15mm gas pipe for boiler

I disagree with that, if the manufacturer supplies a 22mm gas connection on their boiler, then it should be connected in 22mm as as it sates on the Worcester web site, you should not reduce this connection

    15mm gas pipe for boiler

Tony, it says in the instructions that the gas connection to this boiler is 22mm so it does not matter if the meter was right next to the boiler, if the gas connection on the boiler is 22mm then the supply at that connection must be 22mm

    15mm gas pipe for boiler

Exactly, there is never clear and concise information, but in the case of the Worcester 18Ri it does state that the gas connection is 22mm, as I said previously, I don't fit Worcester boilers, so have not fitted one of these, but all I know is when I get a boiler with a 22mm gas connection at...

Is this work acceptable (pics)? Central heating system.

Tell the installer you are not happy with the install quality, telling DIYnot will not solve your concerns, if YOU as the customer are concerned and not happy, that is all that matters, it matters not what people on forums think, Tell the Installer, it is all down to installers personal opinion...

    15mm gas pipe for boiler

From the Worcester web site with regards to the 18Ri. Under no circumstances should the size of the gas supply pipe be less than that of the appliance inlet connection (22mm diameter). Also from the Worcester web site for the 18Ri and this is from the installers section Greenstar 18Ri...

    15mm gas pipe for boiler

It says in the instructions that the Gas connection is 22mm, now I don't fit Worcester so I don't know, but if the gas connection is 22mm then it needs to be connected with 22mm, do you think your Gas Safe inspector would except you connecting a boiler with 15mm when it has a 22mm connection at...

    Bath & sink waste, acceptable?

In reply to the OP's original post, No, it is not acceptable, it has a backfall from the bath to the stack
  16. S

    15mm gas pipe for boiler

Looking at the Ri instructions it says that the gas connection is 22mm, this would mean that a 22mm supply is needed, as you cannot reduce the inlet supply

    Combi Boiler Recommendations

Tony I don't think you fully understand the flow rates of combis, if as you state the stated flow rate is 14 l/min at 35 degrees C temperature rise, that means the boiler can provide 14 l/min with a 35 degrees temperature rise, so if the incoming mains was at 15 degrees, the boiler could supply...
