    CCleaner has a free space wiper facility. You can choose 1-35 passes, which should erase everything. Cannot vouch for it but looks like the easiest way to do this. Best way would be a full format using DBAN and re-install.

    You could take out the hdd and put it in a pc/caddy and use that to run the disk or borrow an external disk drive.

    Ok, maybe not with the sites you go on monkeh, but the casual user is pretty much as safe with free AV protection as with paid. Its just a matter of common sence e.g AVG puts big green ticks next to safe sites and big red crosses on the bad ones etc.

    To be honest, AVG or Avira or Avast work just as well and are free. The "big players" like Norton and Mcafee do exactly what trazor said and use scare tactics to get you to buy their products. You are no safer with paid for AV software than with free AV software.
