uninstall performance tools, it is an essentially useless program. download CCleaner here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard and do a registry scan

after more research, quite a few people have had problems with faulty HDDs throwing up "please put in password"(or whatever) on drives that previously had no password protection, so i would lean towards faulty too, but give Igorian's suggestion a go.

try uninstalling all of the software and deleting the printer from "devices and printers" restart and reinstall from the disk.

take it to a local computer repair shop and ask them to give it a quick test (most small pc shops will do this for free). Please don't use a higher fuse rating than the charger states, that can be dangerous.

take the card to a good local computer shop and ask them to verify if its fake or not, this can be used to prove your ebay dispute. try using a usb adapter, try formatting to NTFS using your pc.

it may also be that the card is high capacity (HC) and the card reader is not, try a usb adapter.
