I feel sorry for your mum. All the installer had to do was turn on the cold tap in the kitchen and you can usually tell by looking at it, but if in doubt all he had to do is stick a flow cup under and that would have told him the water volume. :x
Someone out to make a fast buck no doubt
If you look inside the boiler where the pipes are you will see a red handled valve open this by turning it and the water will run out of the system. Shut the valve when the pressure drops to 1 to 1.5 bar. :) How did the pressure get so high in the first place?
The valve may leak causing a...
If the diaphram is punctured you now have no choice but to get a new one. As for fitting it find some manufacturers instructions or get a professional. It must be fitted perfectly other wise it won't work.
If your radiators are gettin slighty warm and the hot water is teppid then the 3-port valve is working. If you switch on heating alone then the lever should be completly free. The boiler and pump wouldn't come on if the other controls i.e. stats, clock, weren't working. My suspision would be the...
The piece of silicon tubing won't be the problem, but if you can cut out the hole and the tube still fits do it because this will save you problems in the future. As for the system pressure, gathering from your description the pressure only rises when the system heats and not when it is cold. If...
The instructions for your shower will state the minimum water volume/pressure required for it to work. Check the pump ones also as they should say minimum water volume/presure requirments. Be carful though if you pump hot water out of your cylinder faster than it can be replaced by the tank...
Does the pipe get hot after the zone valve? If it does then it is an airlock. If not then you are possibly looking at the valve. If the boiler comes on then cuts out its because the boiler is up to temprature and the heat cannot escape the boiler.
Sounds to me as if you have wired the valve up incorrectly. Did you get instructions with the valve? If not then try the web site of whoever makes the valve or a plumbers/heating merchant might have some literature. If you are still unsure post a reply telling me which make of valve you have and...
You don't need two by-pass valves, just the one. Put it in after your pump but before your zone valves. As for the pumping over what speed is your pump on? It shouldn't need to be higher than 2 for an open vented sytem. Unless the system is a very large one. Pumping over also causes excessive...
i think this might of been what happend because the people before did have a elctric cooker and then changed it for gas if this is the case would i still need to rewire :?:
thanks for your help guys i looked at a couple of sockets in different parts and was suprised that they were wired in a ring why would the kitchen be on a radial? :?: :?:
my kitchen is wired in a radial and under the floor the is a 30A junction box it has a supply cable coming in. it then has 2 cables going out to 2 sockets is it possible to connect up a other socket to the junction box the cable used is 4.0mm
Can't believe it - we did it yesterday & it's all completely perfect (I'm touching wood as I type this though!). The only down side is that the other half now thinks he's a central heating engineer as well as everything else & fancies moving radiators round in the other rooms & adding one to...
Bugger! (Sorry, am I allowed to say that on here?!) I thought that would be the case. Thanks a lot for your help. You may get a post over the next few days asking for "on the job" advice if all doesn't go according to plan. Cheers v much!
