Any underfloor heating installers here, familiar with JG Speedfit installations?

Thanks all; solution was to re-pair the room control panels to the central control unit; unbeknownst to me, the owner had reset the system in some manner, resulting in all the wifi links being lost.

Any underfloor heating installers here, familiar with JG Speedfit installations?

Owner feels that UFH is not heating the place at all. The central manifold installation is built primarily with JG Speedfit components; there are two separate manifolds, each with their own pump and what I gather is a blending valve. The pump and blending valve assembly is very similar to...

Any underfloor heating installers here, familiar with JG Speedfit installations?

Title says it all; friends moved into a home with an extensive underfloor system, but trying to figure out what they're missing about operation.....

Using headphones with TV Headphone Splitter on TV?

Try the splitter and both headphones with another device. Inspect the jack plugs on all items to make double sure they are all the same spec and size, and are all standard stereo, not the variants designed for phones with extra switching rings.

How to connect TV to the internet?

The Sky Q box has "Apps" on the main menu. Prime, YouTube, Disney, Netflix etc. It must be connected to the internet already, just go through the menu to open them and sign up If you want to play things that are actually stored on a laptop or similar, get a Chromecast, plug it into an HDMI...

Stuck thermostatic valves on CH radiators

I've got the head off to expose the moving metal pin which controls the flow; but this time I can't get the metal pin to move. Have done this once or twice before, and I used a spray of silicon lubricant to loosen them up. Now they seem to be locked solid. Was the silicon lubricant a big no-no...

    Stream Music Through HiFi

Behringer UCA202 - less than £20 on used market.. USB at one end to connect to laptop, twin phono output at line level at the other end, standard twin phono cable needed to plug into Tape In, Aux in or similar on your amp. I've been using one for years. More expensive solutions are available

Overheating plug and socket switches ...

"Better make" being .... which? Yes, the MCB for the circuit will be rated above that, I mis-spoke 'circuit', but the highest fuse rating for an individual mains plug, and by implication for an individual appliance, is 13A .... is 11.02 considered within safe operating range?

Overheating plug and socket switches ...

Update - we've been living with this over lockdown, but the tumble drier has now claimed the lives of three switches on one single socket and a double socket - all new ones fitted by the electricians at the time. I got a plug-in voltage/current monitor gadget from Amazon, and on High setting...

    Repairing cast-iron downpipes

FYI, I used a small tin of car bodywork repair epoxy to fill the base crack, slathered some CT1 over the top of that, and gave it two coats of paint. Seems to do the job so far.

    Repairing cast-iron downpipes

The in-laws have what I would call a hairline crack in one of their cast-iron downpipes. The pipe as a whole seems to have been painted many times over the years, and it seems to me that the paint has peeled away and outward along the line of the crack to a width of 2mm or so, revealing the...

Using Rough Service light bulbs in the home

Would you? Do you? Bought a small batch of these on eBay, but OH noticed the "not suitable for home use" warning on the boxes. Previous thread on here suggests they generate more heat than domestic bulbs, and hence could overheat fittings. Any views on this (since that thread was in 2013)...

Overheating plug and socket switches ...

The pins look pretty much as I would expect from a new item, not one that's a few years old, as this is. Don't think I could get them much shinier. Fuse detail to follow

Overheating plug and socket switches ...

Well, since one has a stuck switch, and the other has only one of the two sockets working, then (no offence, but) that's a given.
