    Powerflush

When he bled the radiators, how much did he bleed out? It may be that you have had a low level in that radiator, and corrosion has continued since the flush. I say continued, because it is likely the cause for the flush in the first place. Powerflushing does not stop something that has...

new house, nice shower, doesn't drain.

If you can still get to it, remove the pipe from the trap outlet and check for hacksaw burrs and rough edges from the cut. These will trap and catch the hairs internally. Some bubbly soaps and shower gels can also cause hair to sit in the bubbles as the water runs away underneath it. Shower...

    Noisy Baxi 105 he instant

How did you check the expansion vessel charge?? To do it properly, you need to isolate the boiler from the rest of the system by closing the F&R valves and draining the boiler. With the drain still open, check the air pressure on the schraeder and then inflate with a compressor or foot pump...

    Heateam warning notice

You wouldnt want an internal tundish though, if the D2 effectively, runs into a soil stack, unless there was a trap downstream and I dont think the ATAG allows connection to a soil stack. Baxi certainly doesnt, and its no i.a.w MI's Who serviced the boiler last year? Was it not picked up then?

    Gas Fire Removal

Because of what I said before. If you leave a gas pipe in the wall, that does not need to be there, or serves no appliance, it is a risk.

to power flush or not to power flush

A powerflush does not have to add hours of additional time, or much of an extra cost to the price of a boiler swap. It can be done at the same time, by first cutting the flow & return from under the boiler, attaching the unit by slipping on two speedfit elbows to the cut ends, and set up the...

Should I have a rad as well as UFH?

UFH would be best left on during the winter, even on its lowest setting, otherwise you will have heat the slab each time before you feel the heat. If you fit a rad, it defeats the object of ufh IMO. Also depends on kitchen wall space. Ask your missus, its safer..

Should a boiler outhouse be cavity walled?

Cant see why not. Check the boiler installation instructions too, for minimum distances for operation, access and for servicing of the boiler, and for vent exhaust positions in relation to the boiler flue terminal.

    extending basin taps

Needs extending about 12 - 15mm? Fit a ballofix valve, that will extend the pipe enough.

    urinal cistern

It will flush as long as there is a water supply to it. If it is of the basic simple type, it is likely that there is a drip tap called a 'pet-cock' above the cistern which drips until a level is reached where the water self syphons to flush. It one pipe inside a cone, and when the water...

Should a boiler outhouse be cavity walled?

Make sure your tumble dryer is externally ducted too. A hot boiler full of combustable fluff could ruin your dream, and humidity in the outhouse would also be absorbed by the lint/fluff sitting in the boiler casing.

Vokera Excell 80SP -Intermittent hot water

Geegas has got this one, but it might save your legs to leave a hot tap turned on and turn the hot water off and on by turning the isolation valve off and on under the boiler. You will be able to see what happen as it happens.

    Gas Fire Removal

Make sure that the full length of pipe is removed from under the floor, in the room, and not just plugged at the restrictor elbow. You might see a 15mm pipe coming from the 22mm pipe by the gas meter, if its under the stairs. If so, the guy will test the installation for tightness, cap off...

    Programmer swap question

The earth point on the back plate is actually called a parking terminal. The earth would only come into play when you remove and park (position/fit/fix) the control to the back plate. The control is double insulated and no earth is required during its use and when it is working. It is only...

    Solar combi problem

Was it just a boiler swap? Surely the boiler tails would just be tapped back into the existing connections? Alpha do a solar smart system. Check their MI's for similarity and call the new boilers manufacturer for suitability.

Safely blank tank connector at mains pressure?

Nobody on here knows how capable you are, but Yes. :) Yes, it would have been tested to hold more pressure than that, but if in any doubt, isloate the valve and still fit the plug to the open end. All float operated valves should have an isolation valve.
