Should a boiler outhouse be cavity walled?

Some oil fired boilers can be stored outside and are designed to be, so it depends on your particular model. Boilers can be installed in outhouses, and in lofts, but pipe work should be insulated and the boiler should be protected with a frost stat. I would imagine that building control, or...

I understood the OP as being that the LED's went to 80 degrees, and not the boiler. The LED's going up to 80, is part of the start up sequence; Then, if there was a fault, the respective LED would indicate the fault. The start up sequence and self test, does not show a fault, as the boiler...

how to mend cut in lead pipe?

I would guess that your 'shed' is brick built and has a hole in the floor where the old wc once was...? The disused lead pipe is likely to be the old redundant supply to an outside toilet. It may be easier to repair if you can find an internal pipe that supplies water to it, from the house, as...

Upgrading pipe between stopcock and thermal store

The hot and cold connections should be 22mm anyway. A direct will give up to 15 litres a minute and an indirect will give up to 18 litres with 22mm. The standing water pressure should be set at 3.5bar on a prv, and best with a minimum dynamic pressure of 1.5bar.

Needs a new PCB. Fan kicks in, operates the air pressure switch which trips a relay on the board, which turns the fan off, which drops the voltage from the APS, which resets the relay, which puts power back to the fan, which operates the APS which trips a relay, which turns the fan off, which...

Pushfit coupling 3/4" copper to 22mm copper?

This is a brilliant way to do it. Ive done it many times. The bread plug swells up and gives you enough time to solder the joint, even when toasting. Try and keep an open end upstream and downstream otherwise steam could possibly blow through.

The silver one will be to isolate the water so your neighbour can not wash his car when you're on holiday and to drain the tap in the winter, to prevent freezing. Small flat screw head in the centre? turn 90 degrees across the flow to turn it off. Wait for your parts, flush it through, post...

    Preparing expansion tank before flushing

Commonly, the vent is 22mm and the cold feed to the system is 15mm. Tell the customer you about to turn the water off, "incase you want to fill the kettle..." Isolate the water at the stopcock, and fit an isolating valve to the cold fill to the tank, then turn the water back on. Tell the...

Under tiles and plywood? It might be easier to take the ceiling down in the room below, should you need to get to the pipes; just a thought. Tiles? in the bathroom? Nice new bathroom? Nice new towel warmer? Fed off the primary pipe work so that it is also on when only a demand for...

    Changing electric shower

If you change your shower like for like, the cable should be ok, if it is ok to start with, and correctly sized. Have an electrician check it for you. A mixer shower will also need a hot supply, as you know; can you get one up the wall and through the tiles? Before you buy the leccy shower...
