Vibration reduction for Washing machines (Concrete floor)

The washing machine will be right between two bedrooms, i dont really want half the house awake when its on spin cycle late at night. I've seen to many cases of washing machines shaking rooms and it reverberating throughout the house. Think I'll make a seperate section for it in the floor...

    Reconnection of Electricity

Just to be annoying, I'm going to say I completly agree with Ihatebritishgas on the matter. But BAS has summed it up beautifully. Contact the tenant, tell him he has to put it right back to the state it was in before he moved in, and before the last check. Using the DNO. Give him X...

Controller for Submersible pump in well.

The inverter ones as I understand it only control the speed of the pump, if the pressure is low they step it up by increasing the speed of the pump. If someone closes the tap it senses the sudden rise in pressure and switches the pump off. If the tap is opened half it runs the pump at...

Controller for Submersible pump in well.

If for whatever reason all safety precautions fail with the gas supply and there is a gas leak, having a switch which makes fairly intense sparks when operating (the mechanical ones tend to do this) and its not sealed so the combustible gasses mix around it, things could potentially go boom...

RCD protection on three phase/single phase.

And the reason for not using them? It would be a garage installation, with the 3 phase almost never used, and when its used its to power a 7KW immersion pump for emptying a well, maybe once every two years. The normal 230 outlets would be used quite reguarly for tools as well as...

RCD protection on three phase/single phase.

That's very interesting, exactly why I asked the question as it was confusing me to high heaven. :) One more thing though, 40A Rating per phase at which voltage, presumably phase to neutral voltage? Or Phase to phase? Thank you!

RCD protection on three phase/single phase.

Another theoretical question I'm wondering about. Say you have a CU with 3 phase incommer. Off that consumer unit you wish to run: One 3 phase MCB for a 32A 5 pin plug Three single phase MCB's for 16A 3 pin plugs Each on a seperate phase. How does the RCD work in that case? Does...

Controller for Submersible pump in well.

Looking at a Grundfos SP3-50 (Single phase, 1.5Kw Max, 6A, 10Bar Max) I can't for the life of me seem to find a decent controller to go with it for a reasonable price. I'm looking for something like this: http://www.italtecnica.com/index.php?ip=4&cat=1&prd=42 Basically it will be 8m...

Vibration reduction for Washing machines (Concrete floor)

The machine doesn't exist yet. This is purely a planning excersize to make sure it won't shake the whole house when its out of balance.

Vibration reduction for Washing machines (Concrete floor)

Does anyone have any input or suggestions regarding creating a dedicated concrete pad for a washing machine to sit on? The floor itself will be 100mm concrete 100mm insulation 65mm screed with UFH and then tiled. Just sitting here behind my desk having a washing machine on spin-cycle at...

Depth of concrete floor slab for underfloor heating.

Ok thank you very much, I guess I best get digging some more then! :)

Depth of concrete floor slab for underfloor heating.

The 65mm screed is "structural" as well, no? Without the underfloor heating I'd do DPC 100mm insulation 100mm concrete and 1-5 mm self levelling screed Since the UFH needs such a large amount of screed on top of it, doesn't that count towards the overal structure of the floor?

Depth of concrete floor slab for underfloor heating.

I've been hunting for the answer all over but can't seem to find it. Starting from scratch - redoing floor, room is 3m x 5m currently there's a hole in the ground. Its going to be a livingroom. So in order from top to bottom: Floor covering Screed with UFH pipework (65mm) Insulation...

    Theoretical question regarding ratings..

Say you have a supply rated at 63A coming into a property, directly from the overhead wires. Through the meter - and into the consumer unit. The consumer unit has a 100A rated isolator switch. The load consists of 4 circuits each protected by 16A MCB's, and one circuit protected by a 32A...

    MCB Colour coding

Very true, but most things that are now standardised had to go through these steps at one time, All they would need to do is add a sticker to state wether or not the installation complies to [Standard number], and urge caution if it has pre and post standard components. No idea, they also...

    MCB Colour coding

You could argue that 3 phase installation colours don't matter which order they are in, as long as they can easily be seperately identified. Yet it is written in standards that its L1 Brown L2 Black L3 Grey. You could argue that potable water pipe doesn't need to be blue, or gas pipes don't...

    MCB Colour coding

Not really no, but, in my opinion, its a lot easier to see a colour and instantly know the rating of it, so if you see a "green" MCB you know it will most likely be powering a light circuit, and if you see a Red you know it will most likely be a dedicated circuit for a stand alone device...
