    MCB Colour coding

Is there a standard for colour coding different ratings, or is it each manufacturer to their own? I'm trying to make some diagrams of a CU and I can't seem to determine which colour goes with what rating. Does anyone know of any standards? Or is it just a case of picking one manufacturer...

Clearence between underground cable and water pipe?

Would this be of any help? http://www.njug.org.uk/publication/114/ That's UK standards, check with local authorities to make sure they are the same.

    total house renovation

In my case I have gutted room by room as far as I need to gut it to be able to work effectively, and build up more or less one room at a time, but since I'm working on a spine wall it kind of ties everything together! But yes, I try to aim for 1 room at a time, so whilst im waiting for...

    Laser levels and right angles.

Thanks for reminding me to ask future builders about this before hiring them. Its this kind of attitude which is complicating things for me, as none of the existing walls are straight. You get one chance to make it right, might as well do your best to get it as exact as you can.

Updated again, started a little bit of building walls again but I need to go out and buy a new SDS+ drill as the last one decided to die. Few more things to sort out with School this week, then I can go into full swing building mode since most of the material is here and ready to go!

    So I Made a Fence

Looks very nice in my eyes, a good effort and excellent write-up! The only thing I would consider changing about that at first glance is placing the metal feet directly onto the concrete, I would have used some bitumen paper or something to eliminate the concrete corroding the metal bracket...

    Laser levels and right angles.

Here, if anyone is interested, did a quick little show of how exactly it works :) http://brit-living-in-sk.blogspot.com/2012/05/laser-leveller.html

    Laser levels and right angles.

Because the wall is being built at the far away edge of the already existing wall, about 5m from the "new" wall I want it perpendicular to. The wall is being built up in stages, I'm working with 4 acro props at a time, and want to move the roof beams onto the new wall before moving onwards...

    Laser levels and right angles.

Because I am building new walls inside an old (Squint) house, the longest of which will be 5 m long. All the existing walls are squint, and I want to base everything off an already rebuilt wall which is a compromise between all the rooms in that its not square with any corner, but just about...

Fixing metal door frames in Autoclaved aerated concrete.

They wrap around the blockwork Woody, and they have a welded on flexible tie halfway up which is supposed to be tied into the blockwork next to it, but offers bugger all in terms of fixing as they are right in the middle of the frame creating a nice position for the doorframe to rotate around if...

Fixing metal door frames in Autoclaved aerated concrete.

That would mean: A. Need to drill a hole for the screws/bolts through the metal door frame. B. The screws/bolts would be visible C. The screws/bolts would protrude from the frame as it will be very hard to recess them. That is far from ideal as it will be ugly as hell and every time you...

Fixing metal door frames in Autoclaved aerated concrete.

Has anyone got any obvious suggestions as to how this is done? 1. physically cut each block so that a lip fits into the doorframe, then seal with mortar to stop it moving. 2. Drill holes through the frame and anchor it in place using rawl bolts (But you would always see the heads of the...
